Perfect place to relax and just feel special

by TripAdvisor Member semester08

Our recent stay at Ramada Resort Khao Lak (our Honeymoon). in January 2008.
Just wanted to make sure that other people find this place as well. We just can't say enough good things about the staff, restaurant's, spa and the all around service.
During our stay we just had to sit back and relax everything was taken care of, from the morningmeal until we went to bed we had such an exellent service. Thank you again all of you at Ramada Resort for making us feel so special.

Sincerely, Marie & Roger

Simply a magic location to chill by the beach

by TripAdvisor Member wazngret

We recently stayed at the Ramada after reading positive reviews on this site. The reviews do match reality. The location and resort were just spectacular. The resort is on a perfect beach called Bang Niang just north of Khao Lak. You can easily walk along the beach to Khao Lak in about 20 minutes.

We got a great deal on a beachfront villa which we booked directly through the Khao Lak Ramada’s own website (as opposed to the Ramada chain website). Our dates ran through to high season but averaged $200 AUS per night.

The pool and grounds were great. Our villa was just what we needed. We simply moved from our front deck to the ocean and back again. The bathroom was amazing with the biggest spa (Jacuzzi) I have seen. Service was great....and yes a reminder to all readers you are in Thailand so do not expect perfect English.

Outside our beach villa we had a great local beachside restaurant and bar Tonson, which did not look like much but was fantastic. We walked from here to our villa most nights (approx 50 steps!!) for a few beers and a meal. Next to the beachside restaurant is a great massage place, which gave you a Thai massage for 250 baht!

The beach front is magic with the colour of the ocean changing every hour. Three or four times a day a local fishing boat would come and go, navigating the shallow beach front to moor in the creek just up from the resort.

If you want a chilled out beachside locale, in funky modern surrounds – then the Ramada Khao Lak is the place for you. We will be back!

Also check out a new Thai restaurant called “Candle” located in the township - they have spend some $$$ on fitout. Food was good and service was OK for week 1!.

Relaxing stay at the Ramada

by TripAdvisor Member sukate01

My husband and I stayed at the Ramada for 5 nights as part of our honeymoon. We booked an ocean front villa room and were absolutely pleased with every bit of it. The 8 villas (grouped in 2s) are literally on the beach away from the main room blocks. They have large porches facing the ocean (big enough for 2 lounge chairs), floor to ceiling sliding glass doors, a sitting area, king bed and best of all an enormous bathroom with jacuzzi tub and rain shower. We thought it to be a great value for money.

The staff are so sweet, always willing to help, eager to please, gracious and always greeting you with a smile. The beach is long and wide - not the softest sand I've ever felt, but very clean. The pool is warm and inviting with a beautiful view to the sea. We ate at the hotel's beach bbq thai night the first night and the food was pretty good with a decent variety, as was the breakfast buffet in the mornings. We found though that the food and drink from the beach bar next door (Tonson's) was cheap and cheerful. In fact, we ate and drank here for most lunches. We also tried some restaurants outside the resort - further down the beach, on the road out to the main road and in Khao Lak town itself. The town is good for a few nights of shopping, food and exploring. You can get to the town for a local taxi's set fee of 150 baht, or you can rent bikes from the hotel at 25 baht per hour. We did this one afternoon and it was nice to explore the area and the local market held on Wed/Sat. Oh, we cannot forget to mention the beach massage huts located to the left of the hotel. They do a lovely 1 hour massage for about 300 baht! The weather was hot, sunny and humid for most of our stay except for a couple afternoons of sudden downpours. The nice thing is that you can still go swimming in the pool because the rain is so warm!

When it came time to leave we were very sad and hoped our next hotel would be able to meet the standards that this one had created. Our only slight disappointment was that the hotel didn't do anything special for our honeymoon. We would highly recommend this hotel to anyone in the Khao Lak area (which is 1 hour north of the Phuket airport). We felt glad that the area has so quickly regenerated after the disastrous tsunami and that somehow by staying in the area that we could be helping to contribute to the redevelopment.

Great location but...

"Hotel is nice. Spacious rooms direct on the beach. Very nice garden in the middle of the hotel (horseshoe shape). It is just that management has made little effort to create activities and there for attract mid range (30-50) age people. I went to the hotel next door (La Flora) and played beach volleyball with them. La Flora management created the possibility for part of its staff to start playing beach volleybal with some guests. More guests followed and staff went back to work..... La Flora also had bikes for rent (or even for free). Something I missed in the Ramada. Food, drinks and massage are very expensive. Just walk less than 2 minutes and you only pay 20% of the hotel price. Hope you don't get any of the low numbered rooms as that is close to the kitchen of the La Flora and trucks will take La Flora's garbage very early in the morning waking you up. Still the hotel is well located. Great rooms. Enough chairs around the pool as well as around the beach".
Had to pay for a late check out of just 3 hours.
These are the little tings that make some one to come back and recommend a hotel or never return and find a hotel that does alow you to keep your room a little longer and it is not that busy in Khao Lak.

Good place to relax

by TripAdvisor Member CiaraB

We picked Khao Lak for our Christmas escape and were not disappointed with our choice. The Ramada Resort is slightly out of town and located right on a very nice beach, so the scene was set for a good end-of-year break.
Advantages:
The Ramada is close to quite a few beach restaurants, massage spots and hotels along the sand so you don't need to go into Khao Lak town if you don't want to. There are some shops and restaurants not far away by road. The beach was clean, uncrowded and not rough or stoney. The pool and grounds of the Ramada were lovely and the place is well designed. The rooms are nice and modern and housekeeping good. Breakfast was a fairly comprehensive buffet - a little noisy but the place was full for the holiday season and there were a few families about. The staff were attentive and friendly - not too over-bearing. The Beachfront Villas are superb! Worth splashing out on if you are on a special vacation.
Disadvantages:
Overall there was nothing too wrong with the place. The pool area could do with some bar staff, waiters, attendants. Some activities for guests would be welcome - perhaps Yoga in the morning or some free watersports equipment. The resort could be classed as small, so the pool and beach loungers are fairly close together but this is not a big deal unless you are next to loud annoying people! Other resorts along the beach looked more crowded.
I would recommend the Ramada and Khao Lak.
