Amanpuri

Since its opening in 1988, the Thai beach resort of Amanpuri has established an enviable reputation for personal service, fine quisine and watersports activities, all of which complement the natural beauty of its tropical island surroundings.

Amanpuri, a sanskrit word meaning 'place of peace' reflects its name in more ways than one. The entrace, 'sala', surrounded by lotus ponds, overlooks the resort's main swimming pool, the restaurant and bar. The resort's 40. Thai-style pavilions and 30 private villa homes are interspersed throughout a mature coconut plantation.

In building the resort they have attempted to maintain the integrity of the site. It is not unusual to see a palm tree growing in the corner of your sunbathing area.

The Amanpuri resort has its own fleet of cruisers and sailing craft. Sailing, deep sea fishing, diving and overnight charters, with full crew. are all available.

$750 US Outstanding Aman Resort but hampered by being an oasis of beauty amidst run down properties. The beaches had alot of plastic washing up but may have been due to monsoons

Phuket-Amanpuri?

by merbel

May be in Singapore in late August and was thinking of combining with Bangkok and maybe Phuket. KNow it is the rainy season-should I consider Chiang Mai instead? Also, is Amanpuri that much better than the Chedi? Want to spulge on a nice place so am also thinking of the Regent outside Chiang Mai....
