Exotic Retreat
This is a very nice and exotic hotel. The rooms are very nicely done up with teak furnitures. The bathtub is also has it unique quality which is made from small tiles. The only problem with this hotel is located about 40km from Phuket Town or about an hour drive from Patong. Road leading to the hotel is still under-contruction. I will not suggest to stay there for now as there are nothing much to do in the resort except for spa and gym! But maybe once the road is completed it would be much better.
Note : not 24 hours room service so buy food if you think you are going to get hungry in the night...!!!!
Unique Quality: Each block consist of 6 rooms, 2 for each floor only accessible by stairs, no LIFT. If you stay on the ground floor you will be able to access the pool from your balcony, really nice actually. Each room also comes with a DVD player, movies can be rented from the so call Library on the main building.
The SPA is not too bad for a first timer. The sales person was very patience with us as we spend about an hour enquiring all the type of spa and packages. Check out the Ginger tea....
Unless you stay in one of few villas facing the sea, you will have your own private swimming pool :)

Isolated hotel with high end touches
This hotel is located by Nai Yang Beach-near the airport. It is quite isolated-away from everything. When we visited the hotel was on a soft opening and was finishing the resort. When we were there the gym and spa were not finished yet. The hotel has around 100+ rooms-comprised of two large blocks. I am not a fan of large hotels, but the rooms were so nice here and plush. So much detail and care went into the rooms. The bathrooms are stunning! The floors are detailed with silver leaf tiles-also the bathtub and shower are covered with glass mosiac beads. The room comes with a dvd player.
The rest of the hotel grounds are quite nice. The restaurant serves good Thai and western food. Prices are high, but service is good. Menu is quite limited. I am sure once the hotel has it's normal opening and things are up and running - there will be more choices. There is a swimming pool facing the ocean.
The only problems with the resort is that even though it's on the beach-the ocean is quite far out. I hope they can develop the beach. Where the resort ends is a patch of grass and muddy sand. You can walk further out to the ocean, but it's not that great. Also, we saw no elevators or lifts at the resort. Lots of steps. Will not be good for people with disabilities or weak knees, unless you get a bottom floor room.
Around each hotel room block-there are little ponds scattered nearby. There are a lot of frogs and they converse loudly with each other. It's nice to be in nature again.
Hotel is a 40 minute drive to Patong Beach.
