 | | | | Marriott'S Phuket Beach Club, A Marriott Vacation Club Resort: Superior accomodations for family Compare Rates NEW! | Tip Rating: Satisfaction: | | | | |
We were invited to stay in the Marriott's Phuket Beach Club in one of their 2 bedroom villas as a taste of what things are like at a Marriott Vacation Club International villa. To join as members. WHAT A BLAST! TVs in both bedrooms and one in the hall. Washer and dryer. Kitchen with electric hob, blender, everything that you can find from a cheapo NTUC resort but with higher and better quality. The master bedroom has this huge king bed with 6 pillows! The second bedroom has 2 slightly oversized super singles. Oh I forgot, the sofa itself has a pull out bed. There are two bathrooms and the one attached to the master bedroom has this huge tub that can hold the whole family together! What can I say but after a day of activities, we all long to be back at the villa. My girls have never slept so soundly before.
A very child friendly resort. There is a Children's Pavilion to keep kids entertained with games, movies and even trapeze training just in case you want to get rid of them when the circus comes to town. The children's pool is a welcome sight for them with a slide. The beach is part of a national park. No other development is allowed on it besides this resort. 16km of unspoilt beach all the way north to the Sarasin bridge if you want to walk that far on it. Now, one quality or rather drawback is that this resort is far away from any of the popular beaches of Phuket. Many online reviews have highlighted this. If you are a Marriott timeshare owner, you can make the best use of the villa. It comes equpped with electric hotplates, coffee maker, blender and everything you most likely find in your home. I suggest you go to any of the Phuket car rent companies online websites to reserve a car for your stay prior to your arrival. Take the early flight there and drive to Big C or Tesco Lotus to load up on stuff. Stuff you will normally buy at home like fruit, vegetables, meat, milk powder, coffee, eggs, bread etc. The villa comes equipped with a refrigerator. Make breakfast in your villa. Maybe lunch too if you intend to spend time in the resort. Eat out only if you intend to have activities outside the resort. Remember, you rented a car. This slashes the cost of staying at the resort. BTW, you can come very light too. The villa is equipped with a washer and dryer. Stayed in this resort for 8 nights. Distance from Intl Airport: was 30-40 mins by car and the scenery was not great Arrival /Checking In at Reception: We were welcomed by one of the receptionists at the door, checking in was very good and we were actually literally escorted by one of the hotel staff to our room. The hotel have 2 floors but long walkways.Try to familiarise yourself as its easy to get lost The room we had was a Superior Pool View that although the furniture and carpet was a bit dated, the room has been well maintained. The receptionist showed us all the way in our room had a main control for tv,ac etc next to the bed Mini bar was well stocked but very high prices. DO NOT DRINK THE TAP WATER Sealed bottled water is the ONLY safe drinking water. The resort provides 2 bottles of complimentary water. The guestswere provided with beach thongs, beach towels and bathrobes. Be very careful not to lose the beach towels as you will be charged at check out The bathroom was clean and big, with a separate shower and a big bathtub. AMENITIES:Pool Area quite big and had a kids pool. Theres a restaurant by the pool. I've noticed that although water was very clear, the tiles were a bit mouldy Theres also a Duty Free Shop but not well stocked and a convenience store within the resort. A beauty Salon and a Tailor was located at the 2nd floor.. PROBLEM WITH LAUNDRY: They have laundry services but I personally found it a bit expensive. No guest laundry facilities and in my case, I ended up washing our clothes in our bathroom, was hard to dry clothes, no clothes line nor dryers. Try and arrive in the weekend and if you are staying for a few days, they offer a free market tour on a Sunday afternoon where they take you to the nearest market and a 711 type shop which had cheaper food/drink than the resort. Make sure that you don't accidentally put their towels in your luggage as they thorouhly check your room upon departure.
Internet Facilities-available 24/7 BEACH:very clean and safe, deck chairs free, can get diff types of massages. Youll never go thirsty or hungry as there are shops around with people walking around selling drinks and food at very reasonable prices. RESTAURANTS:There were alot of good rest within the hotel. (lounge, cafe, seafood rest and room service till 11pm) Prices were not too bad but still ideal to eat at the rest near the beach. A cultural show gets shown 2x a wk. for free ACTIVITIES: You can spend the whole day in the resort just by joining the activities alone. Everyday, free act were conducted like beach volleyballs, cycling, thai cooking, intro to scuba div and beach gears like boats were all provided free. Beach was only a 1-2 mins walk away. All in all, our stay was enjoyable The people were very pleasant, very easy to deal with and very particular with their method of cleaning, presentation etc. This is a quiet type of resort and it takes around 20 mins to get to Patong Beach which is the main nightlife and night markets. It was never a problem though getting there as taxis (unmetered) were abundant but make sure you haggle with the fare. They are very friendly and helpful people but make sure that you get good value for your money. Secret is: always halve the price being offerred. They will ask for a bit more so add just a few more on your price and they are likely to comply. Remember, never pay for the asked price. The resort is also a bit isolated from other shops and walking to the nearest shop outside the resort may be a bit difficult. All in all, I would recommend this resort for guests who enjoy good quality service. Not to mention, families with children are well catered for as they offer a free kids club (pay extra for food). I would recommend this to guests especially who have kids who likes the service of a full beach resort but is away from the nightlife.
