    Baan Boa

    by

    We stayed there 2 nights.
Location was at the quiet end of Patong and walking to the beach was like 5 meters away!
Hotel doesn't have a lift, so be wary.
Breakfast is okay. Nothing exciting but sufficient to fill your stomach. It had bacon though!
Their rooms were huge...really huge and airconditioning is personal (i.e. u have the remote control!). They also had a bath tub and a pretty good enough shower. We had to pool access which is abit bad cos there were some other guests who disregarded other people who were staying there and made a rackled by jumping into the pool then walking out from the pool to the road and the beach. Hence, noisy!

Only issue, flies at the buffet area and a construction happening (will be happening during July 2008 till Sept 2008)

Booked the hotel during the low season (July 2008) at SGD52/night - approximately USD35 (based on 1.5 exchange rate).

Good quiet place to sleep and yet near the centre

We got Bann Boa hotel at a good rate since it was the start fo the off-peak season. I paid about SGD73 for 3 nites. Room was clean and spacious, functional and well mantained. I liked the location - it's at the south end of Patong beach - close enough to walk to the Patong centre, and far enough from the noise at night.

Breakfast was included, but it was somewhat normal and not alot of variety. Still acceptable though.

Unique Quality: not all rooms have sea view, they are blocked by the buildings in the front. But the balconie are breezy enough, and it's pleasant to pull a chair there and read a book.

Directions: It's beside seaview resort. There's a 7-11 convenience store beside it.

Where to go and do in the early morning?

by yukisanto

I'll in Phuket on the 5th May, and coming in early morning alone. I guess I've to take a taxi to the Baan Boa resort in patong. But since it's like 8am in the morning, can anyone suggest something to do in the meantime until the checkin time. I plan to leave my luggage at the hotel and go out, but I don't knwo where I can go at such early hours for a lone female. Need your advice, thanks!

Also if you have any review of Baan boa resort, let me know too. It's my first time to phuket.

Do you like the beach? You could ask in the hotel for a room to change your clothes and shower, then go down to the beach. At this time you can at least be sure that you will have one of the beach seats (or beds?).
Or you could go to a spa and treat yourself with a massage, body scrub or similar. There are serious ones around.
Or you could rent a car with driver (they will come to you if you walk on the beach road) and have a tour of the island. Just never forget to ask for the price first and haggle!
Don't be afraid being there as a lone female. Thailand is in general very safe.

Well on your homepage you list shopping and soaking up sun as your objectives for your Phuket trip.

To tell you the truth, I think you'll be allowed to check in when you arrive. This is already low season and there's no real reason to make a customer wait for a room when there are unoccupied ones waiting for guests.

But in the remote possibility that you can't check in, just relax someplace and enjoy the first day of your holiday without pre-planning it too much! As suggested above, you could go to the beach. Your hotel is at the far southern end of Patong; it also has a pool, so you could take advantage of that if you don't feel like getting all sandy without the possibility of washing your hair and changing into clean clothing until after you check in.

What do you want to shop for? I can't imagine there's much in the line of clothing you can find here that isn't available in S'pore, but if you wanted, you could stroll along the beach road to scope out the sorts of things you might like to pick up during your visit and get some breakfast while you're at it--do some people watching.

Have a great visit here in my playground!
