boutique shopping

by enjoyable

Where is the best boutique shopping on Phuket, I need some beach wear and some nice dresses, my kids could also use some new bathers, but preferably not billabong.

I have just been to a new shop near Surin Plaza called Island Bliss, it is a big white building. It has beautiful clothes for ladies and kids, it also has mens shirts and great swimwear for all.

"Jung Ceylon", a quiet new mall in Patong have it all.

I would also say Jung Ceylon in Patong, but what I know about shopping could be written in big letters on the back of a postage stamp ;-)

For Dresses why not take photos of dresses from fashion magazines with you that you like and have them made to size at the one million and one tailors in Phuket. Same with mens clothing.

Have the kids bring their bathers along so they have something to swim in immediatly and then spend some time looking around for new ones that way your not rushed into buying because of immediate need. good luck finding swimmers other than billabong etc.

Travel Tips for Phuket

Visa on arrival

by muratkorman

For tourists who are subject to Thai visa, visa on arrival is a good time saving option in Phuket. Compared to Bankok, things move quickly and easily. In a short time your application will be handled and you don't lose time waiting for your visa.

Buddhists deem feet to be the lowest part of the body, they are unclean and as such, there are certain rules to observe.

1. Always remove footwear before entering a temple or a Thai person's house. Place them neatly at the door. Some other places also require footwear to be removed before entering. A good rule of thumb is that if you see shoes at the door, take yours off too.

2. Never use your feet to point towards anything, particularly people.

3. Never sit with your legs outstretched in front of you.

4. Never have your feet pointing towards any statues of Buddha.

Feeding monkeys in the mangrove forest

by yukisanto

On the road that leads to the Sea Gypsy village, there is this platform with statues of monkeys over facing a mangove swamp. Bring with you fruits and throw it into the swamp. You'll soon see the monkeys materializing in droves - I'm not kidding. it's abit scary to see all these wild monkeys suddenly appearing in large numbers. The locals always feed them in the evenings when they pass by this area.

by imstress about BIG C

Near to Central Festival are Big C and Tesco Lotus. Big C was opened on 29 November 2001.

It has a basement level with a food court. We had pad thai and western food here. They were very delicious and good value for money.

We did most of our shopping in Big C. From clothings to shoes, most are at a discounted price and cheaper than Patong fakes. Ladies top can be selling from THB79.

The top floor in Big C sells some Thai souvenirs and handmade furniture for sale. Big C also have stalls selling Thai souvenirs, wood carvings and games. You may find the souvenirs to be cheaper than those at Patong.

Open Daily from 9am to 11 pm. clothings

Spectacular costumes and stageshow

by austarman about Simon Cabaret

They have been doing this show for many years now so they have a very polished presentation with good music and great costumes.
It is almost impossible to tell the men from the women as the make up and dress is so well done.
Well worth a look despite the show only running or about 1 hour. Anything you like.
