    Jacuzzi in room

    by

Only a small place in a short Soi near Soi Baanzan Food Market but we got rooms for 600B per night with a jacuzzi in every room. We found it on Google Earth and looked at photos first before finding it in real life.
Good clean room with a balcony overlooking the street and if you don't have a lady friend then get one to enjoy the jacuzzi. The only problem was if the downstairs bar was closed when you get home and you have to go round the back to get in, difficult if drunk.

Unique Quality: Did I mention the jacuzzi?
There are others for 500B down the street and they will tell you as you walk past.
Cheap food hall in market down the road.
7-11 open 24 hours two doors away.
Good English travel agent down the road, ask for Andrew. Very helpful and not a rip off.

Directions: Find the Bangla Thai Boxing Stadium and the Soi is across the road next to Soi Banzaan Food Market, walk up past a half built building and it on the right before the 7-11.

2 persons can fit in a tuk tuk or you can also rent a scooter to go around.

Re: tuk tuk

We've had 3 in one - two adults and a 13-year old girl, but it was tight.

Re: tuk tuk

by Cathy&Gary

As this is in the Phuket forum, I take it you are asking about Phuket tuk tuks. If so then you can fit up to 8 people, depending on their sizes.

I and my friends have tried 7-8 person(slim please). hahahah (
Lots of fun and really great time.

I agree with Cathy (Hi Cathy long time no see!!!)
The tuk tuks in Patong are different from the ones in Bangkok. In Bangkok you will only fit 2-3 but the ones in Patong are like a larger open van and Im sure you'd easily fit 8 people max in the back!

Cathy, Ive just booked a holiday back to Phuket for September and cant wait.

Jet-skiing

by junecorlett

This is a great pastime to see the beach and view of the island from the water.
We hired 4 jet-ski's.
The cost per half hour is 1400TB (40 US$) per jet-ski.
A lot of fun.
My husband took our 5 yr old grandchild on the jet-ski with him, and the rest of us went 2 per ski.
We stopped off to have a swim in the deep aquamarine water.
I am waiting for pictures taken with an underwater camera which I will add to this tip.
The owners of the jet-ski's have no insurance, so it is best to be careful.
Any damage to their equipment will be for your cost.

You can even stop off to have a snorkel. Life jackets are a must which is provided by the owners. (The locals)
Keep your watch handy as the time elapses pretty quickly (while you are having fun)

No Junk Here!

by runwitme about JungCeylon

Jungceylon is the largest international shopping and leisure destination in Phuket. It boasts 4 different 4 zones.

Zone 1: Silang Boulevard - Food Haven (food court), sport complex, retail fashion, That's Siam (Thai art & handicraft) and cafes.

Zone 2: The Port - Outdoor section where the Dancing Musical Fountain and life-sized Chinese Junk is located.

Zone 3: Sino Phuket - lots of stalls selling clothes and local handicrafts. The restaurants are not open yet at the time of visit.

Zone 4: Phuket Square - Only Carrefour and some smaller shops are opened, Robinson. bowling alley, theaters will be coming soon.

Open: 11 am till midnight daily. My favourite shop is Bookazine - bought some books. They were having rainy day promotion - 10% for books bought before 1pm during my visit.

The sport retail centre is also worth a visit. The variety is simply mindblowing.

The Best Pub/Bar in Phuket

by neen63 about Two Black Sheep

Being typical Aussies that love people, eating/drinking, music and having a good time, we could not believe our good luck when we discovered the Two Black Sheep Pub & Restaurant in Patong! Without doubt, the best pub/bar we have been to in Phuket on 3 visits to this amazing place.

Aussie hosts, John & Debra & Rob were so hospitable and friendly and made us feel at home right away. The atmosphere is awesome - great people, great staff and amazing live music every night. Owner John is an accomplished Aussie muso himself, and you can just feel the laid back, good-time friendly vibes in this pub as soon as you walk in. John plays a few sets early in the evening and then the Thai band kicks in from about 10:00pm each night. They were absolutely fantastic, and the female singer (who doesnt start until around 11:00pm or so) is brilliant. The whole place rocks and every night we were there people were just all mingling together, singing, dancing and having a great time.

The staff were all fantastic - no bar girls or touts - just friendly, hard working Thais who quite obviously have picked up the Aussie humour generated by the management and many of the patrons.

Food and drink prices were very reasonable and the food was actually really good. Happy "hour" goes from about 10:00am to about 10:00pm (that's Thai time for you!).

What was also good was that Two Black Sheep isn't just an "Aussie" pub - it struck the right balance between local Thais, Aussies and other Western tourists, with the result being an ecclectic, fun, friendly and comfortable party atmosphere.

The operators of this bar should be very proud of what they have created. My hubby and I can't wait to get back to Phuket and pay all the great people at the Two Black Sheep another visit. Casual - definitely.

Relocation of Metered Taxi Booth

by ah_bian

For travellers who wish to take taxi out from Phuket airport, it is cheaper to look for a meter-taxi.

The old meter-taxi booth used to be in the carpark of the airport but it have shifted to the side of the airport.

Once you step out of the terminal, ignore the other taxi touts (silver taxis) turn right and walk all the way down, you will see a booth and some parked taxis (yellow and red taxis).

Let them know your destination, the person maning the booth will issue a reciept and assign a driver to you, the reciept also doubles as a complaint slip should the driver try to overcharge you ( which i have not encountered yet). Do note that there is a surcharge for driving out of the airport which applies to all types of taxis.

As a comparision, the silver cab offered to take me to Kata for 650 Bth while the meter taxi only cost me 450 Bth.

The meter taxi also drives up to khaolak (1 hour) at a flat fee of 1200 Bth.

Feel free to tip them if you wish, I find them to be honest drivers who are forced out of the competition by the other taxi monopoly, they are not even allowed to pick up passengers along the way after dropping you off at your hotel.
