Possibly the Best Hotel in the World
by Figsbury about Banyan Tree, Phuket
The Banyan Tree is definitely the best hotel that I've ever stayed in. It is quite possibly one of the best in the world. The accommodation, facilities, staff and food were outstanding. I would not hesitate in recommending this hotel to anyone. The only downside is that it's not cheap by any stretch of the imagination but it's worth it.
Uunforgettable Wedding at the Banyan Tree!
by A TripAdvisor Member
We have just returned from our amazing wedding at the Banyan Tree, Phuket. Before making our arrangements we had read mixed reviews on the Hotel. However, please be assured that this Hotel is absolutely beautiful and caters for your every desire.
We have no compaints whatsoever, especially considering our very high standards.
From the outset the Hotel immediately gave us an upgrade without any request from our side. The room we stayed in was absolutely luxurious (Pool villa). Totally secluded within a tropical garden. And our own private pool accessed through french doors directly from our bedroom. Consequently, our sunbathing attire was limited to "sunglasses" only!
The service provided from the Hotel staff was extremely attentive and genuinely caring.
In particular we would like to thank Van, our wedding co-ordinator. His experience and advice ensured our wedding ceremony and reception exceeded all our expectations.
It's honestly impossible to convey the fantastic experience of this Hotel. So if you would like to see some pictures or you have any particular questions please don't hesitate to email us on julija_n@btinternet.com.

No Words to Describe Such Excellence....
by TripAdvisor Member fantravel
My partner and I stayed for 7 nights at Banyan Tree Phuket in February 2006. We are used to good service and nice places in 5 stars hotels. But we did not expect such perfection and beauty at Banyan Tree Phuket.
Already excited by 4 beautiful days at Banyan Tree Bangkok, we really discovered a bit of paradise in Banyan Tree Phuket.
After a very nice Limo drive from the airport, we were greeted at the Spa Pool Villa exclusive Lobby... and the dream began. We immediately felt in a special place devoted to exception and quality. Smiles, nice drinks, smooth and efficient in-villa check-in(thanks to Noy), brilliant first steps into a dreamworld.
Our spa pool Villa was amazing. Very big, nice black/gold/white modern thai design, great laguna view, beautiful garden, large pool, useful jacuzzi and steamer... One night we experienced an unforgettable "Intimate moment" offer with candles, incense, soft music, red wine, amazing chocolates... Wow... very moving and sensual...
We loved to wake up early in the morning and swim directly into our pool, to sit in the garden and be in touch with nature, listening and watching birds.
We are fond of our villa.
Banyan Tree main signature is excellence for service. We would like to thank all Banyan Tree Phuket staff, from brilliant Spa Pool Villa staff to spa professionals, from people working at the library to restaurants staff (especially breakfast staff). Warm thanks to the staff in charge of cleaning and gardening. We noticed absolutely no fault. All was done to fulfill every need and request. Smiles and discretion everywhere. Attention to details is so important at Banyan Tree that everyone looks for perfection to make your stay unforgettable.
Bang Tao beach is really great at Banyan Tree Phuket. The hotel was full during our stay but we were very nicely surprised to see how the beach was a quiet place, not busy at all, perfect for rest. It was also really nice to walk along this long stretched white sand beach. Very beautiful sunsets in a special place.
We used to have lunch and diner in a local restaurant on the beach : "Preeda's kitchen". Simple but very very good thai food.
Banyan Tree Phuket is really a special resort due to warm and discrete staff, sober but very beautiful design, philosophy for quiet place... Luxury for simple life.
Other 5 stars hotels could offer luxury but often with snobby attitude, superficial and "too much" design or decoration, nice global atmosphere you could find everywhere in other international hotels. Here in Banyan Tree it is really another world. If you like rejuvenation and seclusion this place is for you.
Cannot wait to go back.
Mesmerizing Hotel

We went to Banyan Tree Phuket for our honeymoon between July 31st - Aug 5th 2006. We were greeted with flower bracelets. I've made reservations for a jacuzzi villa but they upgraded us to a pool villa "314". We were taken with a golf cart to the room. Keep in mind that there are only about 123 rooms but the hotel land is huge with a laggon and amazing landscape. When we entered, a signiture Banyan Tree relaxing CD was playing with a formidable scent in the room and orchids on the bed.
The villa interior is hypnotizingly beautiful. There are 2 wash basins, 1 open shower, 2 cabinets with all the extra amenities such as umbrellas, flashlight, beautiful make-up bag with suntan lotion and tooth brush etc.., beach bag... Some of the rooms other amenities include a cd player, dvd player and state-of-the-art coffee maker.
The Exterior is another "great" case. When you open your double-sided doors in front of your bed, the 10 meter pool lies 1 step away from you. You can swim naked. At the end of the pool, there's another spot (high up) where you can just relax by laying down and watch your villa or the lagoon. In addition, you can walk to the lagoon from you villa where 2 beach chairs and a table awaits you. This means that you villa's private land is between 400-600 m2. Impressive...
The service at the hotel is unparalel. Everbody bows at you. Everystaff know exactly what you're doing (outside your bedroom). they know which restarants you're going, which tours you're taking. One night we went to a nice show called "FantaSea" that involved elefants. when we came to the room, a little stuffed elefant toy was on our bed for us to keep. One day we went to PhiPhi islands to snorkel and swim, we found a little sea turtle toy on our bed.
Banyan Tree is located in Laguna area where 4-5 other hotels are together. You can go to other hotels with an open bus for free and cross-charge to your room even if you eat at other hotels restaurants. Our favorite is Thai Cuisine Saffron in Banyan Tree and also Italian La Trattoria in Dusit Laguna Resort. Only down thing I could find in Banyan Tree is the breakfast. They need to have more options. Altough it seems like they have it, but an avarage person would not it most of them, like sushi for breakfast. But still we found stuff to eat.
Make sure to order In-villa BBQ where they bring a grill to your garden and cook for you. It's very romantic. Order around 7:30pm. Also reserve the "Intimate Moments" feature for 9pm, where the staff transforms your villa to an unforgettable romantic getaway place with candles, white satin sheets and satin bathrobes and off course the water pond with hundreds of flowers covering it where you sit with your loved one and enjoy the stars (you don't realize that you had this place in the room)
The Spa is flawless. Treatments are amazing. We had Balinese couple massage and it was worth every penny.
Banyan Tree Phuket is an experience that we won't forget for the rest of our lives and we will definitely visit there again. Thank you Banyan Tree! (Ha Pun Kap! - thank you in Thai)

Definitely, The Mandarin Oriental Bangkok has awarded 'The best hotel of the year'. The hotel has more than 150 years old, obviously this is one of the luxury choice.
These are the ranking :
6 stars : Mandarin Oriental, Dusit Thani
5-6 stars : Westin Banyan Tree, Sukhothai, Sheraton, Shangri-La, Regent, Penninsula
Other Choices : Central, Pan Pacific, Amari, Hyatt Erawan.
Nowadays, alot of economy tourists from Europe choose to stay in the motels or inns in Khaosarn area. This areas provides cheap and economy room for less than US$20 per head.

Banyan Tree Phuket, food nearby?
by Brett-Wallace
Hello
We will be staying at the Banyan Tree Phuket in January.
We are a bit of a budget and we are wondering if there are any restaurants or beach bars away from the hotel complex that offers good quality, safe and cheap food.
Thanks
Brett

Not really. The entire Laguna mega-complex of resorts is priced for tourists with money to burn.
The nearest food outside of the complex is a strip of upscale restaurants, many of which offer complementary shuttle or taxi service to Laguna guests since the complex is so huge and walking out isn't a quick stroll.
I would suggest that you rent a car and get to one of the nearby villages, such as Cherng Talay, for locally-priced meals.

Anything on the beach for food?
Re: Banyan Tree Phuket, food nearby?

You might find something. You will need to head south towards the little town at the south tip of the beach.

Greetings: I am sure this is to late for you but.................if you take the free boat shuttle from your hotel to the Sheraton Laguna and then walk down to the Sheratons swim beach, look to right and you will see the first of three places to eat(The first is as close as you can get to the water) All three are good and cheap, the first one has been there for at least ten years (When the "wave"hit, it blew away......enjoy....
