beach resortel, phuket

by bill49mpr

I stayed in Beach Resortel, Phuket leaving 24 dec for Krabi. Anyone have any news of this delightful resort? Staff were very friendly and helpful there and in surrounding beach bars. Hope everyone is safe. I have tried other web sites but this hotel is listed as unable to contact.

Patong Beach Lodge and Coconut Village/Beach Resortel

by kiko06

I'm going to Phuket :) (end of April) [Question posted earlier debating whether to go or not].

I've booked for 4 nights, now thinking of accomodation:
1. First and Second night: Patong Beach Lodge (as will be out of hotel most of the time). Is this hotel ok?
2. Third and Fourth night: Either Coconut Village or Beach Resortel.

Which one should I go with? Both the reviews sounds good, their price range quite similar.
But, I read reviews saying northern Patong beach is nicer than southern Patong beach. Appreciate it if those of you who have been to the hotels above provide review. Thanks...

Have you looked for reviews on VT? There are bound to be some. There are lots of pages on Phuket, enter Phuket into the search box at the top of the page and have a look at the information there, it should help you.

I will be back in Phuket (but not Patong) from the 28th July - 9th August, not making any promises, but if I remember, I could drop by that hotel and take a look for you. Please keep in touch with me via email if you wish for me to do so, as I will forget without a reminder.

I haven't heard of any of those places. You could try two other forums where there are very large Phuket forums for some information. 1)Asia Web Direct Forum: http://forum.asiawebdirect.com/ubbthreads.php?Cat= and Trip Advisor.

Travel Tips for Phuket

Short Skirt & Spagetti Strap

by sheliadecastro

If you are going to visit Wat Chalong, please remember to dress decently like long pants or skirt, clothes that not revealing your shoulder. The operator there would not allowed women who dress not decent to enter inside the temple to do offerings or visiting.

Dive Racha Yai

by trisanna

We did a day trip from Phuket to Racha Yai. It's a hour or hour and half boat ride to this island. Even though we went during the monsoon season-the visibility was quite good. Both dives were around 18-20 meters. The first dive we saw an octopus, moray eels and lots of fish. Very healthy coral. Second dive we saw a small wreck. Went with South Siam divers, http://www.southsiamdivers.com/
They did a good job was suspicious at first due to the large number, but after our first briefing by the top divemaster, he divided us into small groups-usually 4 to 5 people per group. Very professional and friendly. Their boats have air compressors on board-so they could fill the tanks and you wouldn't mess with your bcds and other equipment.

Tailors

by Myndo about Star Tailor and many many more

Phuket and especially Patong is full of tailors.
They are the more aggressive ones that try to persuade you to have a look into their shops. The tug at your sleeves, they take your hand....
If you do not want anything (yet) from them, just keep on walking.

On the other hand, it is real cheap to have your clothes made here. Choose between any material and stile you wish.
You can also just bring them a picture from some catalogue and they will do it for you, with any changes you want.

Just two things: compare a little the prices, so you know what to pay. Haggle.
And: If something does not fit right, say so. Let them change it until it is how it should be.
All this may take up some time of your precious holidays. Be aware that you may have to come back several times if they have to change something.

I think some offer transfer to/from your hotel - ask for that as well. Clothes
any stile and material you wish.

Patong

by vigi about Clubs, bars, go go

The central party place in Phuket. All the bars look very similar, playing the same old music. They're either having bar top dancing sexy Thai girls (prostitutions) or soccer bars (I was there during Eoru Cup). I can say the partying is far less attractive than Bangkok & Ko Phangan. Sort of boring here! Not my type of places.

Tuk Tuk monopoly

by danielinnz

Never did I think I would find in Thailand a group of people who don't want to bargain but the tuk tuk drivers of Patong are an exception. They all quoted 100 baht from the middle of town to my hotel just a 5 minute drive away. This is the same price you can get for a one day pass on the BTS in Bangkok!!! Not one was prepared to barter and believe me I tried. Best bet is to take a motorcycle taxi for around 40 baht or if you have a stay of a few days consider hiring your self a scooter
