    Not cheap!

    by

Accomodation is not cheap in phuket!!! although out of season you can score some really good deals!
I found a right bargain though, Capricorn village is a couple of blocks from the beach in Patong. They have little bungalows for 450baht(£9) for a single. The rooms are great, with power shower and aircon and sky tv!

I stayed here again in 2005, and loved it, the staff (Pam - youre a legend) are friendly, and just damn good fun!
Its a perfect location, clean, and will always stay here. The price in September had gone up to 500baht for a room! still a bargain for location and facilities and good ol' Pam!!!!

I will not stay anywhere else!

Shopping

by mo_adam71

First time to Phuket next week and am truly excited. In Bangkok I would do my shopping around Pratunam, Bobae Tower, and Sukhumvit. Is there an equivalent of these in Phuket? Thanks.

Re: Shopping

Although on a smaller scale than Bangkok, the main shopping area is Patong where you have the OTOP, a large collection of market stalls, plenty of shops and the very modern Jungceylon Shopping Centre.

John

Jungceylon is good and you also have central festival outside Phuket town and some more places that are nice. Phuket has really good shopping.

here is a list with some places, http://thailandhotel.org.uk/guide/phuket/shopping/

Travel Tips for Phuket

Universal Adaptor

by WSH80

You might need a univesal adaptor (preferable 2-pin) for your electronic gadgets. If you forgot to bring this along, don't worry. You can get it in Carrefour Hypermarket in Jungceylon, Patong. Or you can also rent it from the hotel reception with a small amount of refundable deposit.

The gibbons rehabilitation centre

by buasaard

In the least known part of Phuket, there is a waterfall with a centre where gibbons that were kept in captivity to please tourists are rehabilitated before give them the deserved freedom. It's a shady place with lots of trees and a waterfall.
A place where people think that Phuket is a tourist trap can change their mind.

Big C SuperCentre

by Cathy&Gary about Big C SuperCentre

One of my favourite shopping centres.

Lots of shops, heaps of mobile phone shops, huge supermarket and grog shop and a good food court. (Plus KFC)

Make sure you make it to the top floor some nice fixed price shops. I bought some really nice tops and shorts up here for 150Baht each. (Plus the toilets are up on this floor!!)

Olay products are very cheap here. The Olay Total Effects creme cost 350Baht, plus it normally always comes with another little promotion, eg hair moisturizer etc. I always stock up on this as in Australia it can cost up to $30.

Olay Regenerist Night Cream was also on special for 419Baht.

Phuket's Biggest Thai Massage Centre

by shane_02 about Phuket's Biggest Thai Massage Centre

Christine Massgae is simply Patong's and Phuket's largest Thai massage centre. It consists of 2 levels. First level is the traditional Thai massage which includes, body massage, foot reflexology and facial massage. The second level is more for adults. To be imprudent a little, second level is the brothel.
