I didn't stay there but because I stay in Sheraton, I can use some of the facilities there. The pool:
The pool is not very special when it's hotels nearby like Laguna Beach resort has a 4 acre water park, and Sheraton has joined all the pools together to form a long route to swim.
Restaurant:
In some restaurants, shorts are not welcome. Just thought they are a bit uptight when they are a resort hotel.

This is a charming resort on the beach with everything one would expect to get on a beach holiday.
Beautiful setting - shame about the rooms!

We stayed at the Dusit Laguna in Phuket. The setting is really outstanding, the hotel along with 4 other hotels is on a private estate - or Laguna.
The hotel is mostly traditional Thai, however in some parts it was quite colonial. It has 4 restaurants - buffet restaurant where breakfast/lunch/supper is served is very average in quality of food. The decor is somewhat dated. The Italian restaurant is stylish serving good food. The seafood restaurant looked like you were walking into a canteen - so did not bother. The best restaurant was the Thai - wonderful setting/decor and good food. Prices for all these restaurants was to be expected for a 4 star hotel.
The most disappointing aspect was the bedrooms - very small and very dated. All the bedrooms whether facing the sea/pool/gardens were exactly the same. They are building a new wing with hopefully better equipped bedrooms.
With just one criticism I would go back (but next time to stay in the new wing)!

My wife and I travelled to the Dusit laguna for my 40th, it was the first time out to the far east, what an experience the beach was beautiful, we had a beach front room as it was our anniversary as well and we got a free upgrade one of the resteraunts was still closed as it was only twelve weeks after the Tsunami, but at this time of the year ( beginning of April) the sea was like a duck pond great for swimming. The staff were excellant the rooms were cleaned twice a day, the restraunts in the hotels are slightly dear for Thailand but there is plenty of choice in the local village or on the beach. The restraunts in the local village will send a lift for you free of charge if you ring them and they will drop you off. Patong is only 20 mins away by taxi if you fancy a lively night. All in all a great hotel in a great complex of hotels. So good infact we are returning there next easter hoping to catch the songkran festival this time, we are taking our brother and sister in law to celebrate their 25th wedding anniversary. Hope to let you know what the new wing of rooms is like after April.
Peaceful resort in busy Phuket

We stayed 5 nights at the Dusit Laguna as part of a multi-centre trip to Thailand. We chose the hotel because it was in a quieter part of the island with good transport links to Patong if required. The resturant is well situated witha lovely beach. Although it is a large hotel and was apparently busy it never seemed crowded or noisy, in fact it seemed as though there weren't many other people there! We could always get a good spot on the beach or by the pool and the towel porters were always obliging. The hotel has a fine choice of resturants and the italian and Thai are a must. The hotel is part of a large resort aroiund the lagoon and guests can use the other hotels facillites and resturants. the resort also has its own shopping village and the hotels and village are linked by little buses or you can take the ferry across the lagoon
BE WARNED, we were invited to attend abrief presentation after which we would receive a free boat trip and a free gift worth 2000 baht, the free gift sold it to us and we went along. It truned out to be a toal marketing ploy but the Laguna hotels chain to get you to invest with them. They basically wanted us to invest about £30,000 on the spot and we would receive various holiday offers at other laguna resorts around the world. They were really quite persistnat and basically we were there most of the morning and missed the best part of the day on the beach. we did get a free gift however which amounted to a great meal at the superb italian restaurant.
The resort is quite secluded and a trip to patong to escape the slightly claustrophic laguna monopoly was very welcome. All in all its a nice resort probably more suited to older travellers or young famillies. I think we would have enjoyed a slightly more energetic location!
great hotel, good to relax
by TripAdvisor Member mini8
Stayed at Dusit Laguna Resort for 6 nights in (27Oct-2Nov) and what a fantastic hotel this is with excellent service.
Rooms were of a good size, clean and comfortable. Lobby is open air and spacious.
All staff were very friendly and polite.
The hotel facilities were excellent with a huge freeform pool and loads of sun loungers dotted around the hotel. The hotel has loads of activites available from aqua aerobics, gym, kids club, table tennis, cycling etc.
The hotel has a spa but I found it very pricey. Instead I chose to have a massage in the garden area, which is on hotel premises but does not belong to hotel. Everyday I saw loads of people having massages so I was not worried and it was really relaxing, not to mention cheap, only 400bhat!!
The hotel has many restaurants to choose from. Breakfast was average but I would recommend trying Ruen Thai in hotel as well as the Casuarina Beach pub/restaurant which serves excellent seafood, there are may dining options outside of the hotel.
Withing the laguna beach resort, there are 5 hotels and you can ride the compliemtary bus or boat that takes you to other hotels so you can dine there or use their facilities for a charge.
The hotel is located on Bang Tao beach which is a beautiful sandy beach. It doesnt get over crowded here and is a wonderful hotel if you want to relax. It is about 30min by taxi from Patong, which is much more livelier.
Excellent hotel to chill out and relax for a week.
Great location

The Dusit was in the best location in the lagoon area, straight on the beach. The staff made the hotel, as they were extremely friendly. It was a shame that you were unable to swim in the sea as it was very dangerous due to the rip tide so if this is important to you do not go in July or August their low season. It is apparently totally different in their high season, very calm. There is a good size pool, though a little cool. There are also plenty of loungers in the sun and shade around the pool and grounds. The massages available by the pool were great, relaxing and very reasonable. We did the Thai cooking at the hotel, which was enjoyable. The hotel is very clean and relaxing, however if you have teenagers it can be a little too quiet. Fresh fruit was put in the room daily, a nice touch. The buffet breakfast had great choice to suit all nationalities.
There are some great restaurants along the beach especially Johns, on the beach turn right, very close to the hotel. We had some excellent food here and the staff very friendly especially Meta who speaks great English, if you go tell them Dawn, Gary and Laura said hello. It is far cheaper than the hotel and great food looking over the lagoon or the beach.
Great family hotel

this is a really lovely 5* hotel in a secluded complex of other luxury hotels at a reasonable price, especially outside school holidays.
The rooms were pleasently decorated with good views over the lagoon, beach or gardens. the beds were big and comfy and the bathrooms were really luxurious. The staff snuck into the room whilst you weren't there so you weren't bothered by people wanting to clean the room, they left behind little treats like flowers, or chocolate, or even wine!
The facilities are excellent, I had a thai massage in the spa and it was superb. You can also have a massage on the beach which is cheaper but didn't look as nice. There is also a pitch and putt which you can play for free, a games room and loads of activities for kids.
There are many restaurants to choose from which are a tad expensive but in the canal village shopping centre there is a great thai restaurant and a great italian. Breakfast in the hotel was brilliant, loads of choice.
There are no laudarette facilities in the hotel but there is at the canal village. The canal village has loads of great shops including a thai silk shop.
there is also a free shuttle bus and boat that goes between the hotels so you can enjoy all the facilities of other hotels.
The staff at the hotel are so friendly and helpful.
In summary it is a great hotel especially for families.
Great resort
by TripAdvisor Member fru167
We stayed for 12 nights in July. It was a wonderful experience. The hotel is set in beautiful grounds and the facilities are excellent. We used the courtesy buses and boats to get around and went to many of the restaurants in the Laguna complex. The best were the Thai at the Dusit, the Seafood place at the Dusit was fantastic and the steak house at the Laguana beach was superb. My husband had a surf and turf- a lobster and steak, who could ask for more? The Italian buffet was very good too. There are some fantastic restaurants on the beach and in town too.
You can buy drinks from the beach and the hotel don't mind which is much cheaper than the bar prices.
We didn't use the Spa but did have many massages by girls in grounds which were fantastic. There is a great cheap spa located along the beach, just before the Bayan Tree. Very cheap, had an hour long massage and an hours facial for £15.
The rooms at the hotel are a bit small but very well appointed and cleaned twice a day.
Staff were fantastic and very helpful.
Can't understand any complaints about this place. We thought it was wonderful. I would love to know where the people complaining usually stay because I don't think you could beat this place.

Dusit Laguna Hotel
by Scoops12
Hello
My partner and I are travelling to Phuket in August to get married!!!!!
We have booked 5 nights at the Dusit Laguna Hotel.
Can anybody tell us more about the hotel?
We have looked into having the wedding ceremony at the hotel for a price of $1,500 US. Does this sound ike a good price?
The hotel have asked us to pay the full price up front before we go -by sending the money to the hotel account. Does this sound legit?
I would be grateful for any help at all.

it's all legit, but the rate sounds a little high.
the laguna hotel consists of 5 key hotels -- i think we can give you a better rate...
congratulations!

Thankyou for that.
We got the 5 nights stay for £295.
The ceremony alone is costing $1,500 US.
I do not think you can sort out the wedding for less can you?

I stayed at the hotel about 8 years ago and it was excellent. It had lovely gardens with streams and waterfalls and had a very relaxing atmosphere. It then had 3 restauraunts all of which served excellent food, particularly their Thai restaurant which was set on the edge of the lagoon. There was a free shuttle service between the other resorts in the Laguna area giving you access to the other hotels. We spent 2 weeks there and loved every minute. Try a traditional Thai massage on the beach.
At the time I was there you needed to get a taxi to get anywhere as the Laguna complex was quite remote. Taxis are so cheap though and you can always bargain with them and get one to take you all over the island for very little.
Things may have changed since, but I hope this has been of help and feel free to ask questions.

The Dusit is one of the best, sitting right on the beach. We loved it! The last writer is correct, their Thai restaurant is right on the lagoona and it is a romantic place to have a meal. Make sure you book a table at the restaurant though as it does get busy.
I can probably dig out some photos from a couple of years ago and email them to you. Let me know if you want me to do this.
Regards
Andy

This is very bizzare. A good friend of mine is having her wedding at the Dusit Phuket in August as well! No idea how much she is paying but maybe I can put you in touch with each other, if you like.
All the best.

It's a luxury hotel in a dream location, for sure, but it seems very expensive to me.
They have a website, why not look it up on dusit-laguna.com ? It has pictures and details of the wedding package. You will see what you will be getting.
