Stay at Kalim beach/Bay cliff Condo

by cyberchetan

Has anybody stayed in The baycliff condo? The site looks very impressive but rate they are offering are quite low, wondering how come such a nice place can get at such rate?
Also this is located at Kalim beach, north of Patong beach. I wanted to know how far this would be from Patong beach and will i get easy transport to and fro?

Please advice on either of above question

Thanks
Chetan

it's low season now so the price usually drops a lot. You can get a tuk tuk from Kalim Beach to Patong.

I used to always use motorcycle taxis when travelling Patong-Kalim and back...
I did use tuk tuks when I was in Phuket the first time but they got too greedy...
Motorcycle taxis are heaps cheaper...!!
There are always tuk tuks and scooter taxis near the big tree on the main road or across the road near the resorts/hotels...
As an experienced motorcyclist,I always rent a scooter now anyways....
I have walked the beach Kalim-Patong stretch quite a few times taking around half an hour to Bangla....

On the way home from Phang Na...

by alisonr

On the way home from Phang Na Bay the tour stops at a Muslim Fishing Village (Kah Pannyi). No matter where you go in Thailand it seems, there is someone wanting to sell you something - this place is no different. Over the lunch-time peak tourist time, the gypsies display all sorts of little trinkets and souvenies. The meal here was glorious - this is where I developed an even greater passion for omletts!!

This is an interesting piece of writing I found on the www.phuket.com site - and I wonder what you make of it!!

'It is better to give this 'attraction' a miss. Unfortunately, what might have been a healthy community of Chao Le, or sea nomads, has been largely turned into a squalid human zoo. Don't contribute to the degradation of these once-proud people. (If you go a couple of hundreds miles to the north, among the islands off the coast of Burma, long closed to visitors, you can still find unspoiled sea nomad communities living in the old way). '
Rubbish I say!!

Everything Arsenal

by lindyz about Arsenal Shop at Jungceylon Mall

We came across this actual Arsenal Shop in Jungceylon so had to have a look, as our son Andrew is a HUGE Arsenal fan. As it turned out their merchandise was reasonably priced so we got him a few things. A Big flag, a keychain and a pair of Arsenal boxers totalling 725bt which is about $27AUD. We also took a few pictures to show him. It seems that the Thai people love their soccer, lots of soccer strips for sale and they are always playing it, either on the beach or on dirt fields.

Walk it out

by touraco

To me, I find that the best way to get to know a place is through walking around the place.
Frankly, the main patong area is not that big. You can walk and shop at the same time or do a foot massage in between the shopping.

If you do not want to walk, you can hop on to the tuk tuks (they are everywhere) and bargain for a good price.

I don't recall seeing much metered-taxis but there are a lot of "private" taxis which you can take but must also prepared to bargain as well.
