Phuket Weather
by Tina-Perth
For information about the weather in Phuket at any time of the year, Alex Malcolm, who lives at Patong has created a website which documents the daily weather for the current month so you can see what the conditions have been like running up to your trip. He also has average temperatures, rainfall etc for every month of the year.
There is also a lot of other useful information on his site including exchange rates and motorbike/jeep rentals. Check it before you go.

Bread Dread
by velumagan
Bring minimal clothes. You can get many bargain items at phuket town (not the beach areas though, .... typically about 50% dearer) Just wear what u like most. a pair of sandals may b appropriate when u go to the beach Good to bring some basic supplies. Not that u cant get but language barrier exists. Most Thai speak very little English. Lots of walking ..... carry something simple. I regret taking my SLR. Plenty of photo shops so dont worry bout films, battery n processing labs Unpredictable rain. Carry a big plastic bag, just in case. While travelling from Phuket to Hat Yai, i kept my bag in the bus luggage compartment. The bag was half soaked by the time i arrived in hat yai. Near the beach areas, food is comparatively expensive. Buy bread and jam at one of the many sundry shops near songthaew station (marketplace) in Phuket. Budget hotels tend 2 b a bit far from shops. 7-11 convenient stores can b found at all major beach destinations
Panwa Cape During Sunset
by shane_02
Catching sunset at Panwa Cape is a totally different feeling. To come here to catch sunset, i have to drive almost an hour from Patong to Panwa Cape. There are a few resorts at Panwa Cape which is popular with the Japanese and Korean tourists. The Phuket Underwater World is also located at Panwa Cape.
Seashells
by Tina-Perth about Seashells at Rawai (many)
I noticed that Rawai has quite a few places selling seashells. There are stalls and shops along the beach.
So, if you're after seashells, head to Rawai as they have the most I've seen in Phuket. Just be sure you're allowed to bring them into your country.
The picture here shows Rawai Seashells Export, but they are one of many. Check prices against each shop before buying.
Definitely rent a car for at least one day
by simcard
We rented a honda jazz on our last day as we had to check out early while our flight didn't leave until midnight. We paid 1000THB including insurance for that and it was worth of everything! We rented the car right on the street by the beach. The car was very clean and in good shape. We ended up driving around the whole island, got to see the other beaches, went downtown phuket, had our romantic sunset dinner at Promthep Cape.
