okay hotel, great location
by susu77 about Jintana Patong
We stayed in Jintana for two weeks. Pool area was nice but othewise the garden was in a bad shape.
The room was okay. TV and some places where to put your clothes in. The hotel smelled a bit funky.
Breakfast was modest but nice. Next to the hotel was a cool karaoke place full of local people.
Location is excellent -in the middle of action but not noisy.
Nightly skinny-dipping was not that easy and nice than in Karon Village.
The beach is not far if you find the shortcut.
The staff is nice.
English Books
by easterntrekker about The Drugstore in Karon Village
Just a note to say if you don't want to drag a bunch of books to read from home....you can get some English novels in the local drugstore in the village at Karen beach. English Books A little more ( not too excessive!)
Great ambiance and food
by easterntrekker about Papaya Restaurant
Located in Karon Village area this is a very special restuarant with some neveau thai dishes.
It's a really nice setting with lush plants and fun for people watching if you sit outdoors. The service was great and you have a feeling you're in a really upscale spot ....but the prices are so good and you remember , Your're in Thailand!! Definately try the Thai Sticks. WOW...they were great. Shrimp and pork wrapped in crispy waffled noodles!!!
More Seafood
by easterntrekker about Karon Seafood
Everynight we had fun deciding on which restaurant to pick . We along with lots of other tourists would cruise up and down the village looking at the menus. You can't miss the Karon Seafood Restaurant . It's right on the main street in Karon Village. They have a display of fresh seafood on ice in front of the restuarant .
We had the King Shrimp here . They are the most expensive thing on the menu but it was our last night . They grilled them and they were wonderful . All the food looked great !! King Grilled Shrimp and Motok Talay U ...seafood in a clay pot . It is so good!!

Clean Budget Accomodation
by Sleeks
Me and my Girlfriend are in Phuket for the 2nd week in November. We are looking for Clean Cheap Accomodation Next to a beach that is not too busy, but you can snokol and hire jet skis. Nai thon and Nai Harn have been suggested to us, has anyone been there or can reccomended somewhere else?

Hi there from New Zealand, I stayed at My Friend Bungalows on Karon Beach on my last trip to Thailand.
It was right on the beach just south of the roundabout at Karon Village, it has an excellent restaurant and good friend'ly bars there, it was bloody awsome to say the least.
I just hired a scooter for 100 baht a day, so it was real easy to get around and only 10 min to Patong, if thats what you like.
Hope this helps
Cheers

I stayed on Nai Thon to be close to the airport. The lowest price was 900 Baht for a queen size bed / two people but the room was a palace lacking only air con. Actually the nicest place I have stayed in years come to think of it. The food was great and the beach is much quieter and cleaner than others around the island. Even had a bit of a wave break when I was there. Can't say enough about the beach the food and the accomodations. The only down side is the cost - but it is still cheap for Phuket!

Tropical Garden Resort

I stayed at the Kata Beach Resort last week, very good, can recommend it. Can't find the Tropical Garden Resort in my Phuket guide.
Kata Beach is very quiet, for more entertainment Patong Beach is a better bet, 200 BAHT each way by tuk-tuk.

My personal advice is that Patong is over-flooded by tourists and nightlife. But if you prefer more quiter beaches, Kata and Karon are more practical. There are many beaches in Phuket, let me rank some of them in terms of popularity and crowd.
1) Patong beach
2) Kata Noi and Kata Yai beach
3). Karon beach
4). Kamala Beach
5). Nai Harn beach
6). Panwa Cape
7). Friendship beach
8). Rawai beach
Some very good, cheap and clean hotels you can look out:
Patong:
1) Mermaid Hotel
2) Sunset Mansion
3) Sunset Apartment
4) Patong Premier Hotel (new and beautiful interior)
Kamala(along the hill):
1) The Orchid Hotel
2) Nern Tong Resort
3) Sunset Point (exotic scenery due to its position)
4). Patong Lodge Resort
Karon:
1) Baan Karon Hill Resort (i always stay here)
2) On The Hill Resort (i also always stay here)
3). Karon Bay View
4) Central Karon Village (middle end class)
5) Arcadia Hotel
Friendship:
1) Atlas dive Resort
2) Vihigit Resort
3) Diamond Hill Resort (Fantastic and affordable)
Nai Harn:
1) Ban Krating Jungle Beach (Perfect enivronment)
(My number 1 choice but middle end class)
2) Le Meriden (High end class)
3) Hai Harn Resort ( has one of the best massage
available in Phuket)
Feel free to message me privately if any of you need advice.

South Seas resort was our choice 4 years ago. It was being refurbished last year, and I'm pretty sure it's back up and running again.
It's pretty nice, reasonably priced, across the road from the beach, and it's only a short walk to the centre of town.
Enjoy... I'm really jealous!

The Kata Thani abit further up is superb if not Le Meridian.
I will be in Meridian next week.

Try O'Tools near the Islandia Hotel. Numerous guesthouse along this Soi - Beefeaters good, Karon Cafe good. Karon Cafe also does a good breakfast all you can eat for 99 Baht.

Try My Friend Bungalows, which is just south of the Karon village roundabout, the beach is just across the road and good restaurant and bars out the front.
i had a ball there, motorbike hire is on site as well.
Its far better that staying in Patong and is close to Kata as well.
Hope this helps
Cheers
