Hi all,

has anyone ever stayed at Lucky Villa on Kata beach

the hotel has been open for 2 months only , the web site looks good,
http://www.sawadee.com/hotel/phuket/katalucky/

but I can't find any comments or reviews, I would be interested to know of any comments if people have stayed or even if anyone has seen it from a distance, my family and I are booked in over Christmas,

many thanx

Mike

Great location, brand spanking new. Have only seen it from outside the wall when they were building it.

Great prices as it is new and no one knows of it:

You won't find reviews as VERY few people, if any, have stayed there yet.

About a five minute walk to the beach - just around the corner from nightlife and lots of restaurants - about a three minute walk to a 7-11 so you can fill up your "mini-bar" with bargain priced stuff . . .

I think you found a winner!

Hi Mike D

I saw your post and was also checking this place out. I have 2 children also aged 10 & 8). Does your room come with a double and single bed?
There prices seem to be fine. If you find anything else out about this place, can you please send/or post more information.
Many thanks'

Diamond Cottage/Kata Lucky Villa

by Britteli

Hello, has anybody stayed in the above mentionned hotels lately?
Me and my husband are planning to visit Phuket in February for
first time and are looking for a quiet nice hotel not close to a busy street!
Thanks for any info!

Hi

You mean the Diamond Cliff Resort & Spa? My friend recently honeymooned there. They had a spa room. He raved about how good the hotel was. His only criticism was there were steps everywhere. This site is excellent if you want to view a slideshow of several photos of the hotel - http://www.phuket-photos.com/frameme-diamondcliff.php?page=diamond-cliff.htm

Cannot help with Kata Lucky Villa at all, I have never heard of it. Diamond Cottage the pool view rooms are ok, it's up on the ridge between the 2 beach areas.

FOR TEDKARMA - KATA LUCKY VILLA ANYONE ELSE WITH INFO PLEASE REPLY

by paulascott

HI
just saw your comments on Kata Lucky Villa. I am also travelling with 2 children aged 10 & 8. Hubby & I are former backpackers - returning to the world of adventure. Thinking about staying upmarket at Kata Lucky Villa for teh last 4 days of our travels. BUT, we would still like to eat at street stalls or cheap eats. Do you know if much in this way is located around Kata Lucky Villa?
Otherwise, it seems to be what we are looking for. How many minutes walk to the beach do you think it would be?
I really appreciate your comments.

Regards'
Paula Williams

There should be plenty of lower priced eateries down on the main road.

I am guessin 5-8 minute walk to the beach.

Hope that helps!

Travel Tips for Phuket

learn some simple Thai phrases (they appreciate it

by ASTRAMISH

Our first time to thailand & i decided to learn some simple phrases like hello, goodbye, thankyou. its delicious, good luck etc etc.
and i found that the Thais really appreciated me going to the effort. So in turn we had better service &were looked after in every way on the aeroplane, and at our hotel & we may have even saved a little bit of money when bartering.
So id say its worth learning some simple thai as we definately benefited from showing an interest in their culture.

Fishing is cheap

by DONBURGESS

A great way to spend the day with family or freinds is to hire your self a fishing boat for the day, they will pick you from your hotel and drive you to the harbour where you will board a thai fishing vessal for your days fishing.
Ther eare many diffrent types of boats avavilabe for hire depends on your wants and needs and your budget.
We had a boat arranged for us by a Thai friend and it was a great day out, they provided us with everything, all meals soft drink water and even the beers.
We trolled for the best part of the day catching abuot 30 fish for the day, our skipper and deck hand tended to our every need and put us on the fish.

So for a good cheap day out go hire your self a boat and see some more of the islands and catch dinner at the same time. All your fishing gear is supplied but your welcome to bring your own if you like, themeals are good and there's plenty of water and soft drink.
The fish belong to the skipper but if you want a fish for your self just ask they will gladly give you one or two.

General Shopping

by MikeAtSea

Boutiques and markets are centred in and around Time Square Mall. Good buys include Thai silk, cotton fabric and cultured pearls. The Native Handicraft Center offers a wide range of locally made products. Bargaining is expected in the local markets.
One of the largest stores in regards to craft, jewellery and other Thai items is the Wang Talang Store half way between Phuket Town and the Port of Phuket. The local currency is the baht.

Phuket Town

by stiab3 about Jammin, Timber Hut

If you choose to get away from the over-touristy activities in Patong Beach, then Phuket Town has a few places that are good nights out. Timber Hut and Jammin' are two such places.

The clientele is mostly locals. There is live music and a lively atmosphere. casual.

"Taxi" Service

by mexxgal

Unless you stay at the Patong area, you will require car transport as the other resort areas are far away from Patong and Phuket Town.

Bangtao Bay is about half hr away from Patong and Phuket Town.

Naithon Beach is about 45 min away from Patong Beach and Phuket Town

There are official tuk tuk taxis around Patong Beach. But for the rest of the island. You probably have to rent your own car or hire a private taxi. We used the taxi service of Mr Noppol Maneesittipong (Nop) during our recent visit and we will recommend him to other visitors. He's a careful driver and his car is well maintained. He speaks reasonable English too. He can be contacted at nopphuket@yahoo.com or mobile 66(0)6 686 5204
