La Flora Patong Beach Phuket

Many people who visit Patong beach Phuket look for hotels that are actually on the beach itself, there are very few. The new La Flora Phuket is one of those few. La Flora Resort Phuket is a luxury resort hotel that is quite new and the rooms have been well designed and are very comfortable. The service is also good. What makes La Flora resort Patong special is being a top class luxury beach hotel in Patong and there are simply so fewe hotels on the beach anyway. La Flora is perfect for couples or families who want a luxury place to stay in Patong and to be right on the beach, it really is about the best.
La Flora is very close to Soi Bangla and the busiest part of Patong for shopping, restaurants and the nightlife. Service was friendly and attentive. You are paying not just for quality of accommodation but also for the superb location on the beach. So far there are few reviews but I hope this review can help.

Unique Quality: Located right on the beach in Patong beach Phuket, one of the very few hotels 'on the beach' in Patong

Travel in May

by mustgo

HI, we are considering travel to Phuket in May. I have been told it would not be suitable for a family due to the wet season. How bad does it get? Can anyone shed some light on the subject.

Re: Travel in May

by Stepwalk

May is the first real month of the wet season and it can rain heavily. However, most of the rain comes after lunchtime at that stage of the wet season and given the higher temperatures it is usually acceptable. Plan your outdoor activities mostly for mornings and you will have a great trip. We were there at the end of April and the weather was quite nice even with the afternoon rains.

Generally , the rainy season begins but they are just rain showers. I kind of like them because it cleans the dust bowl. It should be suitable for the familly because there are many other things to do even when it rains. the rain also cool down the temperature.

cheers Tommy x

Why not go to Koh Samui at that time of year? ;-)

well...it's hard to say these days as the weather is behaving wildly in recent years. Someone was complaining of the cloudy and rainy days in November/December last year, when it was supposed to be the dry season!

But in general, May isn't too bad as it's only the beginning of the wet season. As Phuket is farther away from the mountains which run along the coast, there is relatively less rain compare to places like Krabi and Khao Lak. And the rain is localized - you can experience heavy shower in one area and it can be sunny just a few miles away. The rain is usually heavy downpour, but it ends quite quickly, and as said before, usually happens in the afternoon.

You can find bargain prices at this time of year for sure, as all hotels would mark down their prices - sometimes at half price!

I just came back from Langkawi which experiences the same weather as Phuket and the lady who runs the resort advised me May is wet! And I attended a sunset beach wedding there early May 2 years ago and it was wet! So, I suppose the OP should decide if they don't mind the rain? ;-)

Travel Tips for Phuket

Love of all things Elephant

by hennanights

This little alter is close to the entrance of Wat Chalong. The large elephant statue is surrounded by lots of little ones that have been left by worshippers. The Thia people love their elephants and do not like to see them harmed.

Do you know how to buy an Armani suit for $150?

by tashka about Creative Tailoring and Silk Centre

Actually, it's not a shop, it's a tailoring centre, where I ordered 4 suits and a blouse, and I'm really happy, because the quality was excellent, prices low, and now I can forget about shopping for half a year at least! You can order anything there - from an evening dress to bedroom linen.

The place is open daily from 10:00 to 16:30, Sundays from 11:00 to 16:30.

This is not the only one tailoring centre of course, there are lots of them in Phuket and, I guess, all of them are good. I suspect I could pay less, but I was too lazy to bargain. You can buy a suit for $100-150. Most types of credit cards are accepted.

Muay Thai (Thai boxing)

by buasaard

Thai boxing is very popular. It's the national sport in Thailand and a way of life. The most important athlets of course perform their matches in Bangkok, but also in Phuket there are a couple of places where there are "Muay Thai" combats.
In Phuket Town there's the stadium in the "Saphan Hin" area. Here thais go to see the matches, while in Patong there is a ring where second category athlets performs their combats only for tourist.
