Laguna Phuket Marathon Starts Here

We stayed at this hotel because of the location. It was the starting point for the Laguna Phuket International Marathon. It is also the racekit collection centre and marathon expo.

Our balcony opens up to the beach. So, we get to be serenaded by the waves to sleep at night. The room is spacious and elegantly decorated. It was a pity that my stay was too short and I didn't get to enjoy the facilities at this five star resort.

Unique Quality: We love the resident elephant. She can be seen wondering around in the resort compound with her mahout (elephant driver). She is a bright elephant and know how to pose for camera. Very friendly.

Luxury in Phuket

This was a wonderful resort. We had only 4 days to spend in Phuket, and staying in a comfortable place was definitely a must. We stayed here prior to the tsunami, so I am not sure of this resort´s fate after that.

I would recommend this resort to anyone visiting Phuket. The staff is friendly. The spa is relaxing, the pool pretty, and the beach nice (but I have to admit that I was annoyed by the locals who would offer massages every few minutes).

Laguna Beach Resort feedback

Laguna Beach resort was suppose to be dlx 5 star, but it didn't feel like one, not in facilities, rooms, food or room. We stayed in the newly renovated premier deluxe rooms. The rooms were dark and dank and still look old and run down( despite the new renovations). The bathroom was badly designed, the glass shower screen was too narrow and does little to prevent water from splashing all over the bathroom, water flowed from around the bathtub and flooded the floor. The seaview was almost non exisistent as there are many huts of beach vendors, that almost totally obliterated the view (and we are already on the 3rd floor), for rooms on the 4th floor, the view would be blocked by the trees, so it is defintely not worth paying for a seaview. Breakfast selection was poor and was exactly the samefor the 3 days that we were there. The waterpark isn't as great as it looks on the website ... this is the first hotel that we had ever stayed at where our kids didn't even ask to go to the pool.
Service was not 5 star either. there were hardly any smiles all around. and 1 bell hop refused to give us a tag for our luggage when we had to check out earlier and leave our luggage with them while we waited for our airport transfer, Becos, he was knocking off before our transport arrived, and he realised that he may not get the tip for helping us with the lugguage (he made this clear when he muttered that he was knocking off).
The only bright spot in service was the guest relations officer, who was very helpful when I needed to get medication for my daughter. And Anna the resident elephant.

The free night promotion was not worth-it. The bill can only be paid using credit cards if it is paid in BHT, but the rates were charged in USD, so that means anyone using credit card would suffer multiple rates conversions and what you see is not what you paid. For 5 star hotel like Laguna Beach, to be only able to pay in BHT but charged in USD...was rather unexpected... Its not a hotel I would stay at again..nor recommend to any friend.

More about Laguna Beach Resort

The Laguna Beach Resort.

by MacKiwi about The Laguna Beach Resort.

This is perhaps the most popular resort in Laguna as it caters very much for families. Their pool (waterpark !!) is the largest in the whole of Phuket.

Good Value For Money

by runwitme about Aloha Villa

After a luxurious stay at Laguna Beach Resort, we moved to Patong Beach where all the happening things are.

We booked Aloha Villa through a tour agent. Due to low season, the price has dropped to 600 Baht per room (no breakfast), which I think it is very good value for money.

The room is clean and cosy. Thank God for the satellite TV as I was "grounded" by the torrential rain one morning.

Location-wise, this place is right smack Patong town. Few minutes walk to Jungceylon shooping mall, beach, Bangla road etc.

I would stay here again if I ever come back to Phuket. Facilities:
• Air conditioning
• Hot and cold showers
• In room refrigerators
• Laundry service
• Tour programs
• TV. Satellite program - Very important during low season when it rain)
• International telephone service
• 24 Hour Security

Paradise!!

We just returned from a wonderful vacation in Laguna Beach Resort, Phuket.

Great hotel, wonderful service, located right on the beach.Cozy 3-storey buildings drowning in green trees, flowers.Gourgeous pool, waterslide that our son loved, swim up bar. An awesome hotel for families with kids, Kids Club open all day and is great (could not drag our son out) (note: for kids over 4)

Charming baby elephant Anna came to visit every day so that kids could feed her and take rides.

We stayed in a Lagoon Studio. It has a lagoon view and is plenty big to stay with kids. We even didn't need an extra bed because it has a day bed area that our son slept and had his toys in.

Wonderful spa---get lots of massages!

Good food, a bit pricy but very good restaurants, different themes every night (fish grill, Indian, Thai, etc)

Hotel is located in Laguna Resort area with 3 (4?) other good hotels that you can visit and dine in by a free boat or shuttle bus.

Can't say enough about the great service, wonderful smiling staff always there if you need any help.

Highly recommend this hotel, especially for families!

Family rooms are fine!

by TripAdvisor Member Jomoo

I was looking for a nice kid friendly resort hotel for a family holiday and had decided on Laguna Beach Resort on the back of a local recommendation. However I almost cancelled it after reading the review of Becks69. My local contact went to the hotel, was shown around by the General Manager who explained that the complainants had in fact booked only a double room, then turned up as a family of 4. No family rooms were available so in the end they turned down the offer of squeezing 4 in a double and went elsewhere.
We stayed for 10 days in late October and had a wonderful time. The kids, aged 10 & 8, loved the waterslide, the extensive pool area and particularly their daily breakfast ride on Anna the Elephant. They also loved the batik painting.
Our family room was fine - large and spacious with two double beds and two made up beds for the kids in their own alcove.
We ate outside the hotel a lot as the food at the beach restaurants outside was pretty good and a quarter of the price of the hotel's.
Overall, the hotel service was excellent and you really felt that the staff cared about your wellbeing. There's a great deal of family pressure for a return trip next year.

Never forget Anna!

We have just returned from 10 days at Laguna and for a holiday with a small child, and could not fault the Laguna Beach resort. Very relaxing - water slide, kids club, Anna the 4 year old elephant. We loved the day bed area in our double queen room. Perfect for the kids to play in without being under the feet.
Wouldn't suggest this is the spot for the honeymooners in the Laguna Resort Complex, as it's on the noisy side, but fun!
The complex is about 25mins or 450 baht from Phuket Airport.
You can catch the free water ferry around the Lagoon to the other hotels - Dusit Laguna, Sheraton, Bayan Tree and Allamanda or the Canal Village shops. You can charge any expenditure at the other hotels to your room.
There's the hotel food or we chose the more casual restaurants on the beach which are run separate from the hotels - and much cheaper. Most take Visa card - check before you order! Majority have live seafood tanks where you can 'choose your own' - the best would be The Lotus near the Bayan Tree, a good walk up the beach or catch the water ferry and get off at the Bayan Tree.
Massages can be obtained from the vendors on the beach front or the Spa run Laguna. Try the foot massage at the beach vendors at the Sheraton.
Day trips are cheaper from the beach vendors.
For shopping, seriously think about going into Phuket Town to Central or the other shopping malls. You will find real brands at great prices.
If you want to barter for copy stuff, head to the Patong Beach markets but walk a block in from the beach front strip.

Overall nice experience

by TripAdvisor Member canrun

Just got back from 8 days at Laguna Beach. Overall, a very nice experience, but I want to share a few of the little drawbacks that made it warrant only 4 stars.
1. Stayed in the Andaman Studio...the shower situation is terrible, as there is no "water guard"/door on the shower. There is no way to take a shower without getting water EVERYWHERE! This is no big deal the first day, but after 8 days of a soaked floor it was really a pain.
2. The pools were nice for the most part, but several of them had green water. Very unsightly and improper at a 4-star resort.
3. Why on earth do they allow the shacks in the front of the beach? Totally kills the view from the pool...though there is very little view from the pools to begin with. (Though the guy with the little bar just outside to the right is way cool!)
4. Andaman Studio supposed to have "full sea views" with no palm trees, according to the hotel's web site. Well, I had to change my room the first day as there was a) basically no view at all and b) what view there was was totally impeded by lots of plam trees. Even after we changed there were still MANY palm trees that blocked the view of the ocean. I expect a full ocean view to be just that.

Now...ALL that being said...the staff was great, very helpful and it was a very solid 4-star experience. Nice, clean beach...though the angle of the sand makes it hard to walk. Next time I'll try the Dusit...liked their pools MUCH more. Cheers!

Laguna Beach resort or Dusit Laguna ?

by Mark-uk

Hi

Can anyone give me some feedback on the Laguna Beach resort or Dusit Laguna hotels, and which one they would recommend.

I am travelling with the family (children age 10 + 11).

Also, are there any reasonably priced restaurants for breakfast and dinner, or am I at the mercy of the hotels, as I hear the Laguna resort is in isolated part of Phuket ?

Thanks.
Mark

The resort has 5 hotels i stayed at a different hotel but there was a mini bus that took to all 5 hotels including dusit which was 5 star. there was also a boat that ferried people to differnet hotels. you could use the facilities of any hotels and also use the restaurants. its true that the resort is isolated. but you could ask the driver of the minibus to drop at the nearest exit point and walk for about 10 minute to the village. at the village there were excelent restaurants that were much cheaper than the hotel restaurants and excelent food. most restaurants also drop you off at the hotels at night, although its only about 10 min walk but can be dark and isolated but safe. there re a couple of good spas at the village taht are much cheaper,

have a good time

RE: Laguna Beach resort or Dusit Laguna ?

As you have kids - Laguna Beach Resort is probably best - they have a GREAT pool - with a giant slide that even this 53 year old enjoys . . .

The previous poster is right - outside the entrance to the resorts are many restaurants, spas, bars, etc - and right on the beach in front of the resorts are many good restaurants - all at much cheaper prices than the hotels offer.

You'll also find the Laguna Beach Resort is usually cheaper than the Dusit.
