We were a family of 10, which included two small children aged 2 and a half and 5 years old.
We booked 5 double rooms, 2 of which were inter-leading for the children and their parents.
The food was outstanding. I could not believe how they could come up with different choices for the buffet for every meal.
We had Thai food, Japanese, Western and Chinese to choose from.
All meals (3 per day) are included in your package, as well as cocktails (alcoholic and virgin), beer and red and white wines. As much as you needed or wanted, as well as all soft drinks and milk shakes for the children.
All drinks could be taken down to the beach as well.
We had cocktails whilst watching the sunset on the beach every evening.
Great facilities; Spa, Hair salon, Yoga, 9 hole golf, water-aerobics etc.
Entertainment every night, with a different show.
Club Med overlooks Kata Bay. The bungalows, built in the style of the local long-houses with teak silk and marble finishes.
The children had a play area with their own shallow pool if wanted.
Personally, I have never lodge here but I knew this hotel when I am conducting some survey for my business.
The owners of Sunset Point has put huge efforts by building this hotel on the edge of the hill. It is located at Kalim beach, north of Patong and less than 10 minutes drive from Patong beach.
It has many beautiful and clean air-conditioned rooms directly facing the sea. GREAT SEA VIEWS!!! A very romantic location for couples. Sunrise and sunsets can be viewed from the large windows in the rooms. To enhance the romantic atmosphere, the bigger rooms does not even have a shower/toilet door.
I have visited this hotel twice. The first time was in May 2003 and they offered a room for about 1500 bahts. But during my last visit in October 2003, they were selling their rooms for 1000-1200 bahts. During the high season in November and December, I believe the rates per room can be anything from 1500-2500 bahts.
Don't forget to update me the rates if you happen to stay there between November to Janurary.
Sunset Point's only facility is its double storey sea-view restaurant overlooking the Kamala and Patong beach. It's unique because it is standing at the edge of the hill. It offers local and western dishes as well as romantic, quiet and peaceful atmosphere within the restaurant. Perhaps, its strategic location allows it to command prices a little more expensive compared to other restaurants. However, it is much frequented by the caucasians and Thais from mainland.
Firstly, I salute the way this hotel is being designed and built as well as its management strategy. I was being told by the manager that this hotel is owned by a local Thai-chinese from easthern Thailand.
Sweet Home is an 8-rooms posh hotel. Imagine an 8-rooms hotel offering private swimming pool, sauna, restaurant, Thai massage and hair & beauty salon. Yes!!! Its an incredible feat for Sweet Home and its still standing firm. This hotel is more like a private residential property than a hotel.
All rooms are beautifully designed and feature private balconies, overlooking the pool and with an ocean view.
Room amenities include air-conditioning, satellite TV, refrigerator, minibar, en-suite bedroom with hot and cold shower, safety box and laundry services. Other facilities include swimming pool, with poolside bar, conference room and a motorcyle or car hire service.
Sweet Home also has a hair and beauty salon offering massage, haircuts, highlights, hair extension, manicures, nail extentions, pedicures, facial and other treatments. A traditional Thai massage by the pool, amongst the scented tropical flowers is also available upon request.
On my last visit on October 2003, Sweet Home is selling their rooms at 2500 bahts during the low-season and 3500 bahts during the high season. However, advanced reservation is recommended as I was told that rooms for the month of November and December are fully booked since 3-4 months ago.
Sweet Home Restaurant and Bed & Breakfast is positioned in lush woodland on a hillside overlooking the beautiful Patong Bay. Situated away from the hustle and bustle of the town, yet only a three minutes drive from Patong beach, Sweet Home is set in a tranquil tropical garden, with a panoramic vista of the ocean and distant mountains.
Sweet Home also offers free pick-up and drop-off service in the Patong area for patrons of their restaurants.
On The Hill Resort is a rather small resort with about 10 rooms. The rooms are cleaner and more comfortable than many other similar hotels/resorts at Patong beach. It only facility is the ocean view restaurant made of bamboo and internet service. However, the beach of Karon is just at your door step and you will probably be very engrossed with the beautiful scenery.
The owner's name is Uthen Satayachai (Joe)

What fascinates me is that, every room has a DVD/VCD/CD player. The owner of the resort offers free usage of the DVDs and VCDs available in the resort, with more than 200 different titles to choose from.

This is a budget hotel. From my conversation with the person-in-charge, this resort is owned by an Italian.
The rates per room are below 1000 bahts depending on season. They do have air-conditioned rooms and fan rooms. Peter Pan is more popular for those who wish to stay long term although 1-2 nights are also available depending on room availability. This hotel is first opened in November 2001. This resort is focued in providing maximum value at affordable
A couple of cheap restaurants are available within walking distance.
Peter Pan has 9 superior and 9 standard rooms, a total of 18 rooms.
All rooms are spacious and equipped with:

I stayed in the mixed dorm consisting of 8 beds. Clean bed sheets, clean rooms, nice common area and perfect location just for 300 Bahts. I was very satisfied with my stay and for budget travellers, Sea Blue is a great option.
Perfect location. Very close to Banzaan Wet Market and Jungceylon Shopping Mall.
DVD movies available in common area.
I was looking for a place to stay in Phuket. Was looking for a non-hotel environment. I came across this establishment on the internet. I was pleasantly surprised when I actually got to this place ~ the way to this place seemed a little dodgy but really, it was not ! Just my paranoid mind working overtime :-)
I would recomend this place to all looking for a nice refuge in the middle of Kata area.
Lovely big room ~ nice double bed, tv, fridge, closet, many electrical power points, wonderful bathroom and fully air-conditioned.
We had a lovely stay at Kata Garden Resort and it is one of the few remaining Thai-style bungalow resorts in Phuket..
Great swimming Pool and the jacuzzi with Pool Bar , looked fabulous, didn't go there though
Ban-Thai Seafood - YUMMY!
Pssst... be aware of the window at the balcony showing the entire room... ;o)
So friendly and so service minded!!

I shall be visiting the new Courtyard by Marriott Kamala beach Phuket shortly but I know that people are looking now for details, i will give a review shortly. The Courtyard by Marriott Kamala Phuket will have 180 rooms on 4 floors. Plenty of facilities, there are special promotion rates available for the Courtyard by Marriott kamala along with the other 2 new properties. Kamala Beach is north of Patong and south of Surin. This used to be the kamala Bay Garden Resort.
The new Courtyard by Marriott Surin Beach Phuket. These new Courtyard by Marriott properties on Phuket are going to be very popular, I will be visiting the one at Surin beach Phuket early September to review, along with the other 2 Courtyard by Marriott properties on Phuket. Surin beach is a nice relaxing part of Phuket, north of Kamala and Patong.
Special promotion rates from US$88. 256 rooms on 5 floors with plenty of good facilities..
I love this place! (almost so much I don't want to put it in here, fir fear it might fill up!) It is a great location, great room, and a great price. This is the C & N Resort, not the C & N Hotel - same owner different location.
The rooms are clean, modern, marble floors, balcony, granite bathrooms, minbar. Hillside location provides a great view (make sure you get a room on one of the top floors) The hotel is small, maybe 50-60 rooms. The pool is beautiful as well with fountains and breakfast is included.
My room was VERY simular to the one in Kata, but a fraction of the price (less then 1/2) - about 1500 BHT a night.
They prvide a free shuttle from the Airport (1 way only) But you must call ahead and ask them to pick you up when you book, make reservation.
The On On Hotel in Phuket Town is Phukets oldest Hotel. It also became famous when the interior scenes of "The Beach" were filmed here.
Yes, here and not as it was later made to think in the Khao San Road in Bangkok. They also used the road in front dor some shots.
I think of this rather as a "must see" than a place to stay, and I never slept here, either.
Located in the old town of Phuket this hotel has a classical facade. Good location for exploring Phuket town, also there are Bus stops right in front.
49 Rooms, air conditioned or fan.
We checked in later the first evening - so it was dark - so we really didnt get a lay of the land. In the morning we walked out from the bungalow to a little sitting area and the view was magnificent. Great breeze up high and enough clear space to let some sunlight in -on the premises. You will need some for of transportation to get around as there isint really anything within walking distance. With that said, everything is only a 5 minute bike ride away. Breakfast available in the morning but they do not serve any other meals. Daily housekeeping and fresh towels which was nice. Cost 900baht/night.
A little oasis tucked up high on the hill. Great view and very pleasant hosts and workers. Food was good and they would serve breakfast till noon. We were going to be there for a couple evenings but ended up staying a week. A small (dont know the name) beach is just down the hill but a couple minutes away. Bigger beaches up the coast which make a good day trip. Of course, the reggae bar is not to far away and the owner - BIG BO - was one of the most interesting characters we met along the way. Say Hi.
I stayed at Summer Breeze Inn homestay in April 2005. Its really a good experience to live with the locals in the neighbourhood in Phuket Town. Though this place is too hard for me to find as a foreign because of Phuket Town's unorderly way of assigning address, the experience is worth it. I have the chance to interact with the locals in the neighbourhood, their neighbourhood market and environment as well.
If you have a chance, you ought to give this a try. The owner of this homestay is a friend chap and he is willing to pick you up at the airport for a fee.
The price the owner is offering to VT members and fellow tourists while i was there:
low season (1 May - 31 October)
Standard rooms: 600B and 800B
Superior rooms: 1000B
Family rooms: 1250B
mid-season (11 Jan - 30 Apr / 1 Nov - 13 Dec)
Standard rooms: 800B and 1000B
Superior rooms: 1200B
Family rooms: 1450B
Peak-season (14 Dec - 10 Jan)
Standard rooms: 1000B and 1200B
Superior rooms: 1500B
Family rooms: 1750B
How often can you hear people staying in homestay? The answer is: very rare. So why not give it a try?
The Natural Resort is located on the same compound of Baantonsai Garden Resort, but provides you with more spacious guest rooms in a more peaceful atmosphere than those of Baantonsai. Similarly, the rates are slightly higher.
Located at Nanai Rd, The Natural Resort provides you with 78 Super Deluxe rooms. All rooms are equipped with air-conditioning, satellite TV, refrigerator, hot & cold water, small table, sink and private balcony.
Room rates are from THB600 onwards during off peak season.
