The new Courtyard by Marriott Surin Beach Phuket. These new Courtyard by Marriott properties on Phuket are going to be very popular, I will be visiting the one at Surin beach Phuket early September to review, along with the other 2 Courtyard by Marriott properties on Phuket. Surin beach is a nice relaxing part of Phuket, north of Kamala and Patong.

I have stayed at many hotels in Phuket over the years, where you stay of course depends on your budget. But think about which beach you want to stay at.
Patong Beach is the busiest, I agree the Thara Patong is excellent value for money, there are plenty of mid-priced hotels, the Patong Beach Hotel, Safari, Horizon, Merlin, some very good value hotels are Coconut Village and the Duangjitt Resort.
You may prefer to stay somewhere quieter such as Karon Beach or Karon Beach.
It varies a great deal, if you are visiting betweeen now and the end of October hotel rates are very cheap as it's the low season.
Patong does have a very large choice of hotels and places to stay, everything from small guesthouses and Bed and Breakfast to large major resort hotels. More luxurious hotels and resorts include Club Andaman, Gracelands, Le Meridien ( just outside of Patong on the way to Karon Beach ), the Amari Coral and many others. Leave a Comment

Patong Inn is located along the main street facing the beach and is owned by an Australian. The accomodation is clean and fairly comfortable. I would say that it is for those who want something more respectable than a backpackers lodge but don't want to pay too much for a fancy hotel. Price-wise it is reasonable but not particularly cheap. Great if you want easy access to the breach.

I shall be visiting the new Courtyard by Marriott Kamala beach Phuket shortly but I know that people are looking now for details, i will give a review shortly. The Courtyard by Marriott Kamala Phuket will have 180 rooms on 4 floors. Plenty of facilities, there are special promotion rates available for the Courtyard by Marriott kamala along with the other 2 new properties. Kamala Beach is north of Patong and south of Surin. The Ibis Hotel in Patong is the first Ibis hotel on Phuket island. The Ibis Patong beach is a modern hotel and inexpensive, in keeping with the Ibis style.The Ibis Patong also has family tooms that can sleep 4 persons. The Ibis has over 200 rooms and is a short walk to the beach in Patong. I must adnit to preferring some of the more Thai style hotels in Patong which are sadly not as easy to find nowadays. The Ibis privides inexpensive and comfortable accommodation and is overall good value for money in Patong.

Nice and cheap hotel. Its really great value for money. Staff were friendly and beds were made between 8am to 3pm.
There's individual air-conditioning, a mini fridge, hot showers and 24hr electricity. The queen sized bed definately looked inviting for a good night's rest.

Allamanda sits right on the lagoons and/or on the golf course. There are free ferry rides over to the dock for the Allamanda Beach Club (very nice) and on the beach - up and down Bang Tao Beach - you will find about 25+ beach restaurants. Try www.PhuketGoldCoast.com for a slide show of the restaurants and recommended dishes at many of them.
As mentioned by previous posters - plenty of taxis right out front for the drive into Patong - about 25 minutes away. But, also good shopping and lots of restaurants at the Laguna Resorts Entrance just a few minutes away. Try Baan Tonsai Garden Resort in Patong. Its celan and cheap - about Baht 700 per night. Also has swimming pool. Staff are friendly. Has a cafe/bar as well. Web site: www.btonsai.com
