We have booked five nights in Mercure Hotel through Expedia Australia. Booking was for double room as we may expect visitors.

One day, two people visited my place... One stayed 15 minutes, and the other around one hour. No one has slept over, so it was just short stay. Anyways, Mercure hotel in Phuket has decided to fine us with bill of 3,600 Bht for bringing visitors. That's just rip off.

We have sent complain to Expedia Australia, as they are the agent and should pick honest hotels to deal with.

You can pay just 1,000 Bht per night for any average hotel, and most hotels in Phuket are friendly with visitors.

If you have feeling that you may accept guests in your room, NEVER GO FOR MERCURE HOTEL!

The Mercure Patong is another of the new hotels in Patong Beach Phuket. The Mercure is a large hotel, pleasant pool and restaurant ( though we did not eat anything aprt from breakfast ). Rooms are quite comfortable. Convenient for the busiest part of Patong. Would suit those wishing to stay in the busy part of Patong. About 7-8 minutes walk to the beach. The Mercure Hotel Patong is close to shopping and entertainment area of Patong Beach. This hotel is getting popular, if you plan for Christmas best to book soon. There are some very good cheap rates for the mercure Patong at the moment.

Unique Quality: Cheap rates for the Mercure Patong available at the moment, if booking for Christmas and New year best to make a booking as will no doubt be popular for Christmas.

The Phuket Film Festival was recently staged in Patong. Our Festival VIP guests and most Festival staff stayed at the new Mercure Hotel. What a travesty!

Besides rotten odor smell seeping into most rooms, two, TWO guests on different floors awoke to find people (one a woman, another a man) in their rooms. An oversight on the part of someone at the front desk in making key cards? Who cares, what extremely poor security.

And what about two of our film makers observing a Thai woman and a Caucasian man fornicating in the first floor swimming pool at about 11:30 at night? Film makers were loving it - envisioning movies that could be made of the experience. But come on, what a representation of Thailand!

Shall we throw in the problem of the lock on my door which kept me locked out of my room for 45 minutes, the hotel assistant front desk manager that entered my room without my permission and had staff empty a can of deodorant aerosol in my room to cover up the foul odor - destroying open food, my toothbrush and about 2,000 Baht worth of medication in my bathroom?

But if that is not enough, how 'bout the refusal on the assistant hotel manager's part (Khun Narongchai) to rectify or acknowledge the situations.

When asked to write a letter apologizing to the Festival VIP guests that had odor problem in their room, Narognchai admitted this to be a problem from the start of operation of the hotel and asked that I provide email addresses of the VIPs. I asked the guests, prominent directors and producers who did not want their private email addresses given out - I told Narongchai “no.” So he refused to write a letter.

I later found out from another hotel staff person, Khun Ekachard, that the email addresses would have been used for marketing purposes, Narongchai denied that only to be confronted at a later conversation where Ekachard made the marketing claim in front of Narongchai and was told to "shut up" (in Thai) by his boss.

Up shot is Mercure Hotel IS NOT ready to service international guests!

Unique Quality: Good breakfast - excellent quality food changed daily.

More about Mercure Patong Beach Hotel

Really enjoyed our stay

by TripAdvisor Member SusieBucks

We spent two weeks in August at the Mecure Patong Beach. We really enjoyed our stay with our two sons aged 15 & 10. (We’re both Airline Staff).

The hotel room was very spacious and we had a connecting room for our sons, which worked out really well. We had a great view over the pool. The rooms were kept spotlessly clean by our lovely maid – we found all the staff to be very friendly, polite and helpful. The bathroom was large with a very good shower.

We had breakfast at the hotel a couple of times, but found it very expensive as they charged for all four of us and to be honest, we’ve had a lot better. We went to’The Oasis’ a few doors along, they do a really good breakfast for half the price and the boys could play pool! They had free internet as well.

We had the Seafood Buffet at the hotel which again we found disappointing, but the ‘Kebab night’ was brilliant.

The pool was lovely and very well looked after. It was always clean with plenty of sun beds – there was never a time when you couldn’t get one and the hotel was quite full. The swim up bar was great, especially happy hour! The food at the bar was very good.

The best thing at the hotel was the Scuba Diving. My husband and both sons signed up for it as they had always wanted to have a go. You have a ‘taster’ session in the pool with Jon the instructor and then decide if you want to go out for the day trip. (There’s no pressure) If you sign up, you then spend the morning at Le Meridian Hotel (you’re picked up from the Hotel) and spend a couple of hours going through familiarisation and safety. You then go out for a full day’s excursion the following day, diving off an island. My ten year old said it was the best thing he’d ever done in his whole life! (The other two loved it as well.) Jon’s a very good teacher – he has the patience of a saint! We would recommend this trip to anyone, it was money well spent for a fantastic experience. (www.phuketscubadiver.com}

We would really recommend this hotel.

great time

by TripAdvisor Member ChamonixBrisbane

We stayed here for 5 nights and had a great time. Rooms are very nice, make sure you ask for a king size bed (should be at no extra cost) and pool view, otherwise they might give you a double bed with rooftop view for same price.

The service at the main pool bar and next to the swimming pool was okay except for one time when we ordered during happy hour and they didnt bring our order so we missed out on happy hour specials.

Have brekkie at the hotel one morning and sit on the restaurant verandah to witness the 'changing of the guards' at the hotel gate/ entrance. we had a good laugh as the guards couldnt stop laughing at themselves.

There is a convience store right next to the hotel main entrance with very cheap prices, stock up on any extras from there as opposed to the high mini bar prices in the room.

Relaxing and laidback

I stayed in the Mercure Hotel in Patong from 1/12/08 - 4/12/08 and really enjoyed it.
The room I had overlooked the Otop markets, was great to sit out on the balcony and watch the night life.
The bed was huge, TV a fantastic plasma (could have been LCD), truely wonderful bathroom with amazing bathtub!!
Would recommend staying here!
Pool area is great, plenty of sunbeds, pool bar was very popular and the food was great.
Breakfast at the hotel was amazing, so much choice!
Staff was very friendly and they spoke very good english.

Awesome end to our holiday

by TripAdvisor Member NixterPerth

We stayed at 3 hotels during our recent trip - the Mercure being the last of them.

We made this booking at the last minute one day before checking-in. I booked via the accor website.
Check-in was a breeze. Although I managed to get really cheap rates on the room(Superior) they gave us a wonderful room with great view of the pool and not much distance to walk around the place.

The pool rocked and this is where we spent most of out time.
It was a very large pool, the same depth the whole pool. There was also a 'cool' water spa near the pool bar.

The pool bar was great. Friendly service serving food and drinks. We had a club sandwich by the pool one lunchtime and was the best club I've every had in Phuket (have had them in many places). Cocktails were reasonable (170baht) and happy hour from 4.30-5.30pm had 2 for 170 baht (catch was they had to be the same). Perfect time for happy hour. 5.30pm leave pool, have shower, ge ready to go out for the night in a good frame of mind.

All staff were wonderful and nothing was too much trouble.

Breakfast was great, quality, quantity all impressed. You must try the Banana Bread, was the best I have ever eaten.

The room was great. LCD TV in room. Awesome bathroom, clean and modern (although showever needs a good dose of Exit Mould). Bed was very comfy. Lovely Balcony.

Only unfortunate thing was the neighbours lack of keeping quiet until really late at night. (We had an interconnecting room). If you dont need one make sure you request a room without an interconnecting door. Although entirely locked, you can hear the people next door all too well.

Housekeeping service was excellent.

Location was perfect - right in the heard of Patong. Although was still rather quiet hotel considering this.

We will definataly stay here next time for sure. It was everything you expect a Mercure Hotel to be and more.

Great hotel with great value

by TripAdvisor Member annamx

We stayed at this hotel during the Songkran festival (Thailand New Year) in April 08.

We loved the set up of this hotel, the location, the comfort and the friendly staff, which were well beyond our expectation for the low price of $ 115 a night (including tax).

The room was clean, very nicely decorated with an interesting set up for the bathroom (see picture). We did not have any of the problems that the other feedback mentioned. We had a view of the main swimming pool (there is also another small swimming pool with a nice mountain view on the 7th floor, I believe).

The hotel was close to the night market and other restaurants, with also a 24hrs convenient store next to the hotel. Anytime we did not want to spend too much money eating at the hotel restaurant, and craved for some snacks, we went to the convenient store next door.

We would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone who is interested in visiting Phuket as we enjoyed very much our stay here. This is one of the best hotels we stayed at during our visit to Thailand.
