Looking for a seaview apartment for 1 week in Feb 11 in Phuket Town
by dianne08
Does anyone have any suggestions for a nice holiday apartment with great seaviews for 1 week in Feb 11 for my husband and myself? If you have any suggestions we would be very appreciative.
Thank you, Dianne

Phuket Town will not have a seaview because it is inland, in town, surrounded by mountains. Earliers post a few months ago with pictures by
(Cathy&Gary) look them up in their Thailand series. They stayed in service apartments on the beach for a fare price. I wrote to them about the great pictures they took. If I find them I will post the name and address. Cheers Tommy x

I read their site (cathy&gary) and they stayed at a service apartment called the Swiss Palm Beach Hotel in the northern beach area. Read there page on Phuket and you can get the prices. She is very detail. Cheers Tommy x
Travel Tips for Phuket
Nai Yang Beach
by gdubyas
For a relaxing few hours, rent a beach chair/umbrella (50b/day) and get some food at "Lee's Italian" right on the beach. The Thai food there is out of this world even though it is an "Italian" joint. And the ladies that cook the food are wonderful too.
And don't hire a long-tail boat in the morning to take you to the little island on the south end of the beach. Wait until low tide and walk there!!!
Aqua socks (booties)
by picknick
Booties are good if you want to walk/swim in the coral reefs and beaches (and if fins are not for you). My feet stays well protected, no cuts or pain from walking on shells, corals, broken glasses (yep, I saw some on the beach) and the occasional sea urchins (saw lots at the reefs, be careful)
I bought made-in-china ones for USD14 (in Singapore). Made from neoprene material, quick drying and good for use the next morning. Not too sure where it is sold in Phuket. Maybe try the dive shops.
PHUKET TOWN
by STRATOS79
While most of the areas in Phuket are famous for it s nightlife, beaches and shopping Phuket town is a small historical treasure with many old Sino-Portuguese houses(more than 100 year old located in Thalang Ranong Damrong and Yaowarat streets) many temples (Chinese and Buddhist) night markets and very nice small streets
Super Cheap & Makro
by Cathy&Gary about Super Cheap & Makro
Super Cheap claims to be the cheapest mall in Phuket.
You can buy absolutely everything here including household goods, white goods, clothing, stationery, electronics, groceries and furniture.
The Pharmacy is also one of the best for prices.
The best time to visit is in the evening.
46/5 Thepkrasatri Rd.
T. Rasada, A. Muang
Super Cheap is on the road to the airport, about 5 kilometers out of Phuket Town.
Open until midnight.
Makro is a high volume, low cost - low price, no frills cash & carry wholesaler, selling a full range of food and non-food products.
Makro was also the first to introduce barcode scanning into the Thai market and paved the way for modern distribution and trade concepts throughout the region.
Makro is good if you want to buy in bulk and very cheap!

Odyssey Bar Phuket Twon
by Cathy&Gary about Odyssey Bar Phuket Twon
What a fun place this turned out to be.
The Odyssey Bar is in Phuket Town down a little street called Soi Rommani which runs off Krabi Rd just after Yarowat Rd.
This Soi is one of the oldest in Phuket Town and back in the tin mining days it was mainly a street of little shop front brothels that catered to the miners!
Today those shop fronts are quaint welcoming bars.
We were the only customers there and ordered our drinks. There was no Bacardi on their list so I ordered a Kamikaze cocktail for 180baht.
Well imagine my surprise when they bought out a jug of it with a straw!!
Bargain but could I have a glass with that please.
Gary and Mark ordered small bottles of beer and Mark was a bit disappointed when his arrived with no stubby holder, so he asked could they please get one for him.
Their answer was a classic
"Sorry Sir but we only have one".
So lucky Gary.
They also have a Thai guy singing and playing guitar, he was fantastic with such a beautiful voice and his pronunciation was perfect!
