4 nights in Phuket

"Patong Beach"
We stayed at the Patong Bayshore hotel. It was about 5-10 minute walk to the beach area. THe hotel was alright, nice pool, and great breakfast buffet (included). The room was nothing great but the sheets were clean. The beach was packed and there were beach chairs and umbrellas available for 100-150 Baht a day. Vendors were constantly coming around selling tatoos, massages, snax, and tourist junk. They were not overly pushy, though. Patong Beach area is really busy, with bars, restaurants, and shops selling clothing and shoes everywhere! Too busy for us, really. Next time we will be staying on the quiter island of Phi Phi.
We went for a fabulous dinner at a newly re-opend restaurant.
the Impiana Cabana Resort and Spa restaurant.. they had a great set menu, great food, and right on the beach. I highly reccommend it!! It is tucked away off the main drag on the beach.
"Snorkel Tour"
Did a day long tour with Island Hopper. It was on a small speed boat. We paid $2200 Baht each including li=unch and snax. I would not reccommend this tour. THe boat was way too bumpy to be called enjoyable. A larger cruiser boat would be both more spacoius and more enjoyable. The pamphlet says you will go to all these different bays and islands, but you only cruise by them or maybe stop for a photo. I think if you just went to Phi Phi Island or around there and snorkelled and had lunch you would be just as happy. Monkey Beach was OK but the tour guides fed the monkeys white bread and Fanta from teh bottle, not something I support. Isn't is just as esy to feed them bananas, or something healthy for them?? There was also almost no information on any of the things we saw.

Hi. In August Phuket will be in monsoon and possibly quite wet.But that doesn't mean will rain all day, just a storm here and there. The best time for phuket will be november to april. I am not familiar with this hotel, but patong is a public beach. I stayed at the Burasari hotel, opposite the holiday inn at patong beach and was only a few minute walk to the beach. If you want a more private beach, i think the Le Meredian beach hotel has one across the road from the hotel, chedi hotel, kata beach resort and a few others have direct beach access.
