Honeymoon help, Kata or Karon? Recommendations please :)

by thailandhoneymoon

Hi, I am planning our honeymoon for Jan next year and am trying to decide between Kata or Karon beach. I am particulary interested in the Metadee, does anyone have any feedback on this resort? We will be staying in Phuket for 5 nights. Any suggestions welcome! :)

Hi,

I don't know about Metadee, but in general Karon is quiet and laid back, Kata more crowded and more lively.
Both are much better (in my view) from the highy commercialized, noisy Patong, where you can go for the evening from either Kata or Karon by tuk-tuk.

Have fun!

Ay specific activities preferred??

By the way,I see lots of foreigners at Karon Beach. The beach is great and not crowded. Also, it is not far from a great view point and Promthep Cape.

Travel Tips for Phuket

Bugs, critters and other insects!

by LakeFever

There are various bugs and bug life in Phuket. Of course there are mosquitos and other insects as well....ants too.....generally though, they were not a big problem or concern. We saw lots of interesting things, and in the evening sometimes it would get a little annoying.....but in general they were a minor nuisance. Amy got bit a heck of a lot more than me but we used the Deep woods Insect repellant with DEET (of course)...whenever we needed that extra barrier.
Note: we did not take or use Malaria pills....both times in Thailand I have been fine...If we were to go to Laos or Cambodia I would prob take them.

30kg not hard to make

by davanti

Well, Singapore airlines has spoken and a 30kg limit has been capped on each of us. Well it didnt take long to meet that, so out came some of the mammut chairs and now its back to packing the bags..................................................................................................

Ao Chalong Yacht Club

by Tina-Perth

The Ao Chalong Yacht Club is situated right on the beach at Chalong, overlooking the yachts in the bay. It is low key, but friendly with good food at reasonable prices. There is a pool table as well.

If you're at Chalong Bay, why not take a walk and visit the Ao Chalong Yacht Club or Jimmy's Lighthouse which is almost next door?

If you'd like to get out on a yacht for the day, this would be a good place to put your name down. The Phuket Sailing Club operates from here and holds races most weekends.

Carrefour

by imstress about Carrefour

Carrefour is the anchor tentant of Jungceylon. We came here everyday without fail. Our shopping ranges from food, drinks, tibits, clothings, cosmetics, fruits.

We would buy some food and take it with us to watch the Junceylon Water Fountain Show at 7pm. food, drinks, tibits, clothings, cosmetics, fruits

Saffali - After Hours

by stappm about Safari

Safari is on the hill just out of Patong on the way to Karon. It is a great outside Disco/Pub that is open all night. It has 5 bars, music, dancing, and lots of people, especially after 2 am when the places on Bangla may close (closing hours only sometimes enforced). So if you are up all night (yeah....due to the time change....that's it) this is the place you will end up! anything
