Airport Taxi Limousine Service
by shane_02
This is the receipt for the service of Phuket International Airport Limousine Service. The taxi is in the form of Toyota sedan model. It charges 550baht to Patong and more expensive if you are heading to Karon, Nai Harn or Kata beach.
So its wiser to use the cheaper transport, passenger vans. But be prepared that you may not be the first to be dropped off at your hotel doorstep as there are other passengers who will be boarding the same vehicle as you. And the driver will send whichever passenger's destination is nearer.
Save your time and energy if you think you can get a cheaper public transport as Phuket is unlike Bangkok. There is no tuk-tuk or public taxi that roaming near the airport. Most taxis are private cars whose owners offer airport-hotel pickups at the rate similar or close to the airport limousine taxi rate.
The conclusion is either you arrange a pickup from your hotel or take of one the 2 services offered by the airport. And be prepared that before you arrive at your destination, you will probably be sent to a local travel agency and let the agency do some marketing to try to sell you some local package tours or hotel rooms at special rates.
Liveaboards from Phuket
by DSwede
I cannot tell you enough how good the diving is while living on a live aboard for 8 days. I've done it many times before and I'll do it again. The west coast of Thailand has wonderful underwater flora and fauna. We even saw some leopard sharks when we crossed into Burmese waters!
The MV Anggun left from Phuket and dove in Thai waters for a few days. We then stopped in Kawthaung Burma for our entry Visas, then proceeded to dive the Burmese waters for ~6 days. It had plenty of charging stations for photographers as well as general assembly tables for gear. The crew was superb.
Shopping for SeaPearl
by bobvanorg about Pearl of the Andaman
All their pearl is being harvested from a pearl farm on phuket. The Shop Manager can take you on a tour and live SeaPearl in their local Aquarium. SeaPearl I went shopping on my last day in phuket, since i wanted to get a searpearl for my mother back home in germany. Now at this shop one can do the whole pearl-farming tour before he decides (or not) to buy a necklace or pearl earrings (like i did). Luckily i had my GF with me, who got me a 40% discount on a regular priced 300 USD earring set. Nontheless i was impressed by the live shells in their aquarium and the very nice shop outlet. A HUGE selection of all kind of pearls are there on display.

Tuc tucs a go go!
by joolssss
TPerhaps the easiest way to get around Phuket without actually hiring a personal driver is by Tuc tuc, ALWAYS negotiate a price before you set off. The drivers are very friendly and accomodating and will often show you points of interest on your way around!
