All of these choices I know every place,
-Anchan resort: private villa poolside in Bang Tao near the beach but can't walk and not convenience ;

- Phulin resort & Peach Blossom; same area, good beach, can walk and convenience.

- Rayaburi resort Patong: my friend is the owner :) new hotel open 1 and half year, good decoration and interior, cheap rate and convenience for nightlife, only Patong is not good beach for swim.

- Patong Bay Garden: the owner is director officer Patong department, good reputation, nice resort on the beach front and convenience for nightlife, only Patong is not good beach for swim.

- Impiana: as same as Patong Bay Garden but only different there is better than Patong Bay Garden only decoration & design. My friend's family build and sold out to the new owner.

- Baan Krating resort: Nai Harn beach/ Ao Sen, cheap rate, private beach area but not convenience, too far.

I think this information and commend can help you make decision, but my idea if before high season (before Nov.) you have many choices.

If you like to stay at resort with private beach, beautiful beach I suggest Chedi Phuket Resort (Pansea Beach, Bang Tao Beach)http://www.ghmluxuryhotels.com/ChediPhuket.htm In Kata area I like Kata Thani resort www.katathani.com

Kata or Karon and which resort?

by ninart

Hi!

I will be in Phuket end sept and can't decide which hotel I should stay in. have narrowed it down to 4:

Diamond Cottage Resort and Spa

The Phulin Resort (both in Karon)

Sugar Palm Resort and Spa

Kata Poolside Resort (in Kata)

I will be travelling with my boyfriend and we actually wanted someplace with nice surroundings and near a beach but cannot decide whether Kata or Karon is better(not sure if this is all that practical since it's going to be monsoon season) and hopefully something up a hill with a nice view (we're renting car so no problem getting around).

Has anyone stayed at any of the above hotels and would like to make a recommendation? First time in phuket so absolutely clueless. Thanks!!

RE: Kata or Karon and which resort?

by Homanded

Either or are nice areas but we loved KATA beach resort and have recomended it highly throughout our postings.
We have a full review along with many pictures on our pages.
Kata beach resort however is not located up a hill but rather right on the beach.

I agree with previous reply. We just came back Sun stayed at Horizon Karon which was very central but we walked to kata and Kata noi (small)which was just beautiful clean beach and the water was clear. We will stay there next time. You will enjoy it whereever you stay.

my family just came back from Phuket this week. We stayed at Karon Beach Resort, a great boutique hotel with breath-taking ocean view in every guest room. I highly recommend it. it's one of the few truely on-th-beach hotels in Phuket. for dining out, walk out the hotel and turn left, 5min walking distance, there is a strip of local-owned seafood stalls, great food at near-local price. we ate there every night. have fun.

Travel Tips for Phuket

Wat Chalong

by austarman

Wat Chalong is Phuket’s most important Buddhist temple and is the biggest and most ornate of Phuket’s 29 Buddhist monasteries.
The architecture is typical of wats found throughout Thailand. Wat Chalong is associated with the revered monks, Luang Pho Chaem and Luang Pho Chuang, both of whom were famous for there work in herbal medicine and tending to the injured of a tin miners rebellion in 1876.

From the Chalong traffic circle take bypass road Why 4021 3km (2 miles) and Wat Chalong is on the right.

Loch Palm Golf course

by kenari

Located just 7 kms. from Phuket Town and Patong Beach, about 15 minutes from Patong.

Nestling below a panoramic range of peaks, and sandwiched between the Katu Waterfalls and Katu Village the layout surrounds the largest lake on any golf course in Phuket, Crystal Lake, 48 acres in size, and its smaller sister lake, which give golfers a refreshing breeze off the water.

The course is in great shape. It is a very good layout and one that is beginning to rival some of the best layouts on the island as the refurbishment matures. You are required to put your thinking cap on and keep perfect control of your game on this tightly routed layout. Bring more ball if you are beginner

Night Markets

by mexxgal about Night Markets

It is common to find night markets in Asia's big cities or tourist hubs and Phuket has plenty too.

There are some in Patong and they generally sell similar things... local crafts, fake watches, fake branded goods, casual shirts/pants/bermudas etc., and all kinds of things including movie DVDs(not licensed of cos) You should generally look around a few stalls and check out the pricing... the bargain down to a price you think is reasonable before paying and try to walk off if the shopkeeper refused your price. If he/she calls you back, you get it at the price you want, if not, you will know that the price you quote is too low and you can probably try a higher price at another stall...

nightime is built for single males

by supabenji about Clubs, bars, go go

Pattong is biggest place to be if you wanna have party on the island but unfortunatly it is hard to find a spot where you can chill and sip a Redbull Vodka without being surrounded by very friendly Thai girls. They did not disturbed us at all but it is not a pleasant situation to find ourselves among all that. Anyway, we were able to get drunk for less than nothing. Whatever you want, girls are waiting for men who got money.

Tuc Tuc

by michelle_x11

The Tuc Tuc is a great means of transportation to get around the island. It is not very expensive and the driver will bring you everywhere, even a 30 minutes drive from our hotel to Patong.

Sometimes their driving skills can make you worry abour not arriving at your destination...
