Reasonable Price

We stayed there 2 nights.
Location was so-so if you consider walking to the beach. But otherwise, it's a great and simple hotel.
Breakfast on the first day wasn't that appetizing but if you are happy with eggs and toasted bread, it isn't an issue. On the second day it was much better, they had spaggatti for breakfast and it was appetizing.
Only issues, their shower was weak and there is alot of mozzies around...got bitten a few times near the breakfast table.
Booked the hotel during the low season (July 2008) at SGD33/night - approximately USD22 (based on 1.5 exchange rate).

poppa palace

by RobbieGee

Hi all

I'm going to patong in February, anyone know about this hotel. I'm looking for no noise in rooms but near to bars, restaurants and beach. Looks OK on asiarooms. Also going to Ko Lanta anyone know of good place to stay on beach near a bit of nightlife but peaceful.
thanks

If you're thinking that Patong is anything like Koh Samui, Koh Phangan, Koh Phi Phi or Koh Lanta, you will be very surprised and disappointed. There are no small bungalow-style small resorts on the beach there, and the beaches are not very pleasant. The water is not clear and the sea is rough a lot of the time. Patong is overrun with cheap tourist shops, KFC, Pizza Hut, McD's and Starbucks, and there are 7-11 minimarkets everywhere.

Thanks, I know Patong isn't the place to go for beachfront bungalows or Thai culture, only going to be there a night as a stopover to Ko Lanta. Usually if I'm in phuket I stay at kata noi but fancied a change and somewhere with more nightlife.

hello there
i have heard some decent things about the poppa palace although i havent been there myself. looking at the location i think there will be plenty of noise from bangla road. if you are only there for a night it might not be a problem.
