Mobile phone sim card
by Kayles
I found phoning home on my Australian sim card very expensive (A$20 for 5 mins)so I bought a local SIM card from a mobile phone counter in a7/11 type convenience store just underneath the Ocean Plaza Shopping centre next to the Patong Merlin Hotel on the Patong Beach Road. This was in August 2007 and if my memory serves me correctly I think it was about thb800 to get set up which gave me some credit also. I then paid thb300 for a recharge card which gave me at least 3 ten minute phone calls home to Australia. The lady at the counter was so friendly and set me up and recharged my phone for me each time.
Ghost Houses
by Myndo
Next to the Buddhism Thais also pay homage to a world of gods and ghosts that influence every aspect of live.
You will hardly ever see a building without a small ghost hut (like in the picture: ok, thats a ghost villa) or at least an altar.
Here they worship the ghosts of the place. They are pleased with food, drinks and flowers or other little presents.
To make them angry may bring floods or other disasters.
If you are driving around, you may also notice that a lot of people honk the horns of their cars when driving over the highest points of a pass. This is also to greet the ghosts of that place. Just join in (can't be bad, right?)

by runwitme about Central Festival, Phuket
We arrived to this mall on a motorbike. It was a long long journey from the Phuket Airport.
It is very tourist-friendly - there is a one stop Tourist Center for booking tours, making airline & hotel reservations, arranging car rentals, money exchange and even a shuttle bus service.
The anchor tenant is of course the popular Central Departmental Store.
It also houses, megastores like Supersports (www.supersports.co.th), Power Buy (www.powerbuy.co.th), B2S (www.b2s.co.th), Office Depot (www.officedepot.co.th), HomeWorks D.I.Y. (www.homeworks.co.th), TOPS supermarket (www.tops.co.th) and
SFX Coliseum cineplex.
Opens: 10.00 am - 10.00 pm everyday
Catch a film
by traceyspacey about Circle Cafe and Deli
There isn't a great deal of nightlife in Phuket town.
So we went to the Circle Cafe and Deli to watch a film. Films start at about 7.30pm/8pm. The wine is reasonable here and the food is good. No dress code
