As said earlier, just book at local tour agents or from the hotel. If you can't find what you like, you can also hire a car with driver for a day and you can go wherever you like.

Travel Tips for Phuket

Petrol Bowser

by DONBURGESS

While on one of my motor bike trips i had to put petrol in the tank, i thought about it for few minutes and relised that i had not seen any petrol stations.
So as i road along i was looking for station when i saw a sign saying fuel, i pulled over and found that the fuel ispumped from a 44 gallon drum, They pump the fuel into a glass bowl with numbers on it, you tell them 50 batt of fuel thanks and then they just put a hose into your tank and wait till the fuel level drops to the 50 batt mark on theglas bowl and then your away.

Fireworks, Firecrackers & Firedancing

by Tina-Perth

Thailand has such great ways of celebrating and making any gathering a special occasion. Fire seems pretty important. If they're not burning off rubbish, there's a bonfire for people to gather 'round. Fireworks are very common in Phuket and happen as often as they get an excuse to set them off. Small firecrackers are commonly used for clearing spirits from boats, houses or events too. There were thousands of them used after the tsunami, especially on boats along with offerings to Buddha of flowers, food, incense and candles.

Something a little different though is the firedancing. Quite spectacular to watch and definitely a special touch to events in the evening. The pictures here were taken on Chalong Beach after a wonderful day out sailing on a 100 year old boat, creating a great atmosphere and finale to a great day.

The firedancers are very skilled and combine Thai traditional dancing with their own style. It certainly has a strong cultural look about it. If you get the opportunity to watch it, take it!

Hire a Jeep or even a motorbike if you know how to ride one. Phuket outside Patong is great.
Phuket town has some great old buildings although the traffic can be horrible at rush hour.
Go to the remaining bits of rainforest that haven't been bulldozed into golf courses.

Patong Department Store

by jrs1234 about Ocean Plaza

If you feel the need to go shopping in Patong in a place with airconditioning - this is where you'll most likely end up. It's located on Bangla Road, although it won't take you long to look around as it's not a very big place.

Mostly men's & women's fashion, plus a supermarket in the basement and an attached Boots pharmacy.

Sailor Bar

by Cathy&Gary about Sailor Bar

The Sailor Bar is located on the beach road just north of Soi Bangla.

This place is very popular with Aussies, especially during the footy season with live game broadcasts. We have watched the grand final of the footy here and the place was packed.

It is the front bar in 2 sois full of beer bars. As we always stay at the northern end of Patong its a good stop off for a rest and a drink.

Drinks are cheap and girls are friendly and not annoying at all.
