More about Seaview Patong Hotel
Decided on the Seaview Patong after reading the many positive reviews. We were greeted with cool towels and drinks upon check in. It was overcast and drizzly, but I'm sure this would've have been much appreciated on other days. As my rating suggests, there was nothing really special at the Seaview. Everything was just ok from the rooms, to the pool, to the breakfast buffet. Nothing really stood out. Then again, there was nothing to really complain about.
The hotel is located on the south end of Patong which requires a short walk to the action depending on where you're headed. The dtuk-dtuks are a rip off even if you're bargaining in Thai. We were once eating dinner up at the north end of Patong at a restaurant near the Novatel hotel. They wanted to charge me double what it would cost to go to the airport (900B while I paid 450B from the Airport to Patong)! If you're willing to walk a bit or don't care about the fare, you'll be ok with the location.
The prices for beers, cocktails, and food at the hotel are obviously more expensive due to its proximity to the beach. There were, however, vendors on the sand across the street who sold beers for 60 baht. On Thursday, there was also a cool little food stand bazaar with a variety of street foods to try. I'm not sure if this is a weekly deal or not, but it offered cheaper, more exotic food if you're into that. It was located on the beach boardwalk about 10 minutes walk north of the hotel.
All in all, if you're looking to spend about $120 USD and want friendly service and a clean room with a decent pool, the Seaview will fit the bill. If your taste is more upscale, I'd venture elsewhere (and out of Patong).
CHECKOUT WARNING--When you're checking out, they'll send housekeeping into your room to do a quick overview to see if you've neglected to put everything back. If you have laundry service, make sure you get the kanvas bag back. They brought our laundry back in a plastic bag, but didn't return the original kanvas one. Thankfully they didn't charge us, but it took a spotty Thai and English conversation with a visit from housekeeping to straighten it out.
Good value for money
Have just returned from 10 days at Seaview Patong Hotel. Had a most enjoyable time, with no complaints. Location perfect, right at the southern end of Patong Beach, 5 -10 min easy walk to the centre of Patong Beach/Bangla road area, but being at the end of Patong beach, much, much quieter, and relatively few vehicles passing by the hotel. Staff very friendly and helpfull, breakfast good, with enough variation not to become boring, fresh fruit every day. Rooms plain, but spacious and clean with regular towel changes( 4th floor rooms have nice seaview). 2 Nice, clean pools, (expect a bun fight for deck chairs in high season though) with the beach just a hop and skip away across the street ( 20 metres!), although with high tide the water does come right up to the breakwater, leaving you with a walk to the more central beaches. Ample Tuk-tuks available in the street across from the hotel(about THB 100-150 to Bangla road area)
Good location, nice staff, good value
We stayed at the Seaview Patong for 10 nights in August ’07, as part of our ‘around-the-world’ trip. We had booked this hotel as accommodation only from Thomson (TUI) in the UK and paid just £18 per room per night, including breakfast.
When we arrived at the hotel, check-in was completed quickly (whilst we were provided with ‘refresher’ towels and orange juice as is the norm with many Asian hotels). We was then shown to our room. The rooms are all fairly big and comfortable, except for if you are placed on the 4th floor as some of these rooms only have windows, not balconies. However the first room we were allocated (323) had black mould all over the ceiling, and also smelt very damp.
After a bit of complaining, we were eventually upgraded to a deluxe room on the ground floor with private pool access. These rooms are much more modern as they have been refurbished in 2005 due to damage caused by the Tsunami. However, they do still smell slightly damp, perhaps as a result of the Tsunami?
The staff were very friendly, and the hotel seems to attract a mixture of guests from the UK, Australia, Germany and South Africa. We did have a couple of problems with sun beds, which do get taken quite quickly by 10am – even if you have already placed towels on them before going to breakfast. Quite often we had found our towels had been removed by other guests (some even hid them in their bags which caused a few arguments!)
Breakfast was good with a varied buffet selection. The swimming pools were also well kept and the hotel is just 15 minutes walk to Bangla road (the main night life strip of Patong), or Jungceylon – Patongs biggest shopping mall.
Amazing time at the Seaview
Stayed at the hotel from 19 to 29 October and loved every second. Had a deluxe room overlooking the main pool which was comfortable, clean and well decorated if you consider how little you are paying. The staff was amazing and would basically bend backwards to accommodate your request. Breakfast was brilliant but gets a bit boring after 10 days with the same selection, but then again, how many different types of breakfast meals do you actually get? The hotel restaurants did not really blow my hair back, but with so many options walking distance away it was not a biggy.
The hotel is only graded as a 3 star, but I’ve stayed at some 4 & 5 star hotels that can take a few tips from the Seaview!
TIP! Do not skimp and opt for the cheapest day trips, again you get what you pay for. You can get deals to go to Phi-Phi for 650 Baht, but then you go on a big boat which takes forever to get there as opposed to doing the speed-boat option which will get you to snorkel at 3 locations and visits 4 different islands.
Great patong hotel
Great hotel, very close to the shopping and restaurant/bar area of Patong but far enough away not to be disturbed by the crowds and noise.
We had a seaview room with a balcony that afforded great views of the sunset. Though other guests were quite happy with the rooms facing East.
Rooms were clean and tidy with a maid PeaBoing any mossies every afternoon.
Breakfast was excellent, and managed to fill us until dinner.
The hotel is very multicultral which suited us down to the ground as we managed to yack to guests from every continent.
The two pools are pretty average as far as asian resorts go but good enough to cool off in.
Has it's own security guard out the front to stop midnight thieves and adds safety to all female travelling groups.
All in all, a great place to stay for our ten day holiday.
W e couldn't have hoped for better accommodation in Patong. Hotel is relaxing yet attentive. Reception staff are friendly but unrushed. Wonderful staff and food at breakfast - brilliant buffet to suit even the fussiest eater and engorge the less fussy. Wonderful views over Patong Bay. Our room had a back view which was better than seaview. There is a small creek at the back with a small fishing community which is a brilliant photo opportunity. Everything you could want in room - mini-bar, robes, slippers, brollies, big comfortable bed.
We had a wonderful stay and can't recommend this hotel enough - if you stay in Patong this is the place
overall good not excellent
well if you are going here dont worry it is fine but i dont think as good as the other reveiws and would say there are better hotels ie holiday inn, mecure, merlin patong beach, and im sure others i forget, anyway i picked this hotel after reading many reviews for hotels in patong however i feel the rooms r dated and slight smell of damp either from the bed or furniture and bathrooms old, the hotel is a very wide design meaning long walk to the bar and restaurant from most of the rooms and appeared only to be 1 lift, big selection for breakfast though usual lukewarm, unlike the merlin beach bbq buffet 5 mins further along all hot food checked regualry by the chefs, anyway also one of the pools need refurbished and the other is quite shaded most of the day and only approx 50 beds in total not enough for the size of the hotel, however hotel is very clean, pleasant staff great views, bar snacks good,
Seaview Patong Reosrt - Anyone Stayed there ?
Family of 2 adults and 13 year old girl visting Patong in APril and staying at the Seaview Patong . IS it ok for families , has it got nice grounds and facilities .
RE: Seaview Patong Reosrt - Anyone Stayed there ?
I haven't stayed there but I did a site inspection at this hotel during a work trip a couple of years ago. The pool was good and and the layout looked quite nice.
I do remember the gym being terribly run down though. But if that's not a place you're planning to spend any time, then that's ok.
