This place is a luxurious tropical paradise! There were many staff members; all friendly. Because there were a number of hotels in the Laguna resort, there were many facilities and restaurants available. The breakfast buffet was very good - the first day we ate so much we didn't need another meal. When we did manage to stuff in food at night, we found the restaurants on the beach good value (about a third the cost of the resort food). The food we did get from the resort was very good though. We went for the first two weeks of May, so the rainy (cheap) season had just started. When it rained, it REALLY poured. The rain and lightning regularly knocked out the power, internet and some TV channels, but the hotel has a generator, so it wasn't a big problem. Only imperfections: We booked the cheapest room and were really happy with it for the first five nights. Then the noise from the band kept us awake until midnight for two days in a row - not good when we have early starts for tours. There were bad lagoon smells sneaking into the room a couple of times too. We asked to be transferred and the staff were happy to do so. The new room was peaceful and there were no more bad smells. One day we came back and the entire room was wet because the door must have been left open during the housekeeping. (Condensation). We absolutely loved our stay and would recommend it to our friends and relatives.
The surf was too rough to swim in safely most of the days we were there, but the long pool made up for it. It was an adventure in itself, winding around the hotel grounds, with two jacuzzi areas. Our absolute favourite things about this hotel (and the highlights of our trip) were the two baby elephants we got to see twice a day: Lilly and Yum Yum. Lilly was 10mths old, and very playful, and YumYum knew lots of tricks. The tours and attractions (not Sheraton related) we enjoyed in Phuket were: Siam Safari (elephant trekking +) Phi Phi Islands (snorkelling and site seeing) James Bond Islands (sea canoes & site seeing - great local guides!) Fantasea (good show - but we both got food poisoning at the buffet and the theme park was just a money grabber) Simon Cabaret (showboys with be girls - save some tips for photos at the end) Theme: Hotel

 | Sheraton Grande Laguna Phuket: great rates

We stayed in a Lagoon Villa, which included a lot of extras. The villas were virtually brand new, and were positioned on the water, with 2 levels. It was sublime to say the least ,nicely decorated, and a wonderful outdoor shower and sunken tub. Service everywhere at all levels was very good, we booked airline tickets from Bangkok to China, and the travel desk arranged for a local travel agent to issue the tickets, because they had a special deal going on the tickets, and the hotel could not get this deal, this was such a bonus . We got an amazing rate for our villa, which made our stay so great, and a lot was included in that rate, making this a very special stay, we would most definatly go back and enjoy this hotel. PS lovely swimming pool the biggest in asia so they tell us.
Biggest pool in Asia 350 meters long. Nice views from Lagoon villa over the water. by akikonomu Only observed the exterior of the resort, when I was plying the lagoon linking the chain of resorts in the Laguna beach area. There's a busy pool right beside the lagoon. Development was taking place nearby (Allamanda I think) so the scene may have changed. The rooms exit into the lagoon which is a dinstinctive feature amongst the hotels there.

We stayed at the Sheraton for a week for a very special occasion. Sheraton staff and their professionalism were of the highest standard. We were completely happy with everything. We had also booked three lagoon rooms for our family. On arrival We were greeted warmly and swept away on a boat to our private villa for check in. We never saw the reception until a day later. Villa – Our private villa 1425 was gorgeous with our own private jetty. The villa consisted of downstairs and upstairs. The lounge room was on the first floor with lounge and two comfortable chairs, dining table, coffee table, Plasma TV, CD player, small fridge, coffee/teas facilities, with a private balcony. A toilet was also downstairs with a great make-up mirror. Upstairs consisted of a spacious bedroom with a lovely comfortable king size bed. Two side tables, large wardrobe and working desk with internet. The bathroom was absolutely fabulous with a large shower, vanity unit, toilet, and an outdoor spa and shower which was gorgeous. Overall, we found the villa to be fantastic and suited our every need. The bathroom ended up being our favourite place. The outdoor spa with the best jets was just amazing and also very, very romantic. Lagoon Rooms -. Our family were completely happy with their rooms. The rooms were spacious with two double beds, which we had requested. All had balconies and large modern bathrooms. We were extremely happy with the standard of these cheaper rooms. Food - We dined in every restaurant of the hotel and found the best to be Chao Lay. It served authentic Thai cuisine which was of the highest quality. The Grekko restaurant on the waterfront was also excellent with a large selection of fresh seafood available. Breakfast was terrific with a large variety of food on offer. We also had breakfast in the Puccini restaurant which was opened only to villa guests and found the service slow. The Tea House served Chinese cuisine which we also found to be excellent.
Other Resorts - You basically catch the free ferry or shuttle bus to any of the six Laguna resorts. The Banyan Tree resort is the only one you cannot swim at, although you can use the golf course or restaurants. You can charge bills back to your hotel room from any of the resorts. Tours – A must do is catching a speed boat to James Bond Island. There are heaps of tours available to any of the major attractions. Make sure you bargain HARD for the right price. I have given the Sheraton a 5 plus rating for staff, location, rooms, and the overall Sheraton experience. Theme: HotelPrice: US$180 and up » Currency ConverterComparison: more expensive than average

 | Sheraton Grande Laguna Phuket: Nice and Quiet

This resort is located in the north part of the island. There is not much night life there and it is a good quiet spot to relax. But if you want excitement and nightlife, you need to go south. For families and romantic travel it is an ideal spot, but much more expensive than other parts of the island. They did some remodeling after the Tsunami. The place is amazing. I had a suite with an upstairs bedroom and downstairs living area. My room overlooked a lagoon which was serene at night watching the owls fly over the water. The resort has several pools and a nice beach. The also have an over priced spa but also independent contractors offer massages and manicures on the beach at a lower price. They can arrange packages for you to sightsee but it is less expensive if you go down south and arrange travel there. There is also a village close by that arranges excursions. You will pay less than at the resort but more if you travel south. This area was less affected by the Tsunami. The trees are still in tact, and the beaches unscathed. If you are wanting to enjoy a quiet trip to Phuket, it is a nice place to stay.
They have the most amazing breakfast buffet. Fresh fruit, vegatarian, Thai, Kosher, American, European, they cater to all dietary needs. Breakfast was free with my room. I ate dinner once there and it was equally as good. If you like Thai food it is delicious with the option to watch a cook stir fry up what you want. They have a resident elephant (a baby) that hangs out around the beach. I got the chance to swim in the ocean with him which was a unique experience. The trainer will, at times allow children to ride him and give him a bath. They have multiple restaurants to choose from and offer different room options based on your needs. Travelling from this area can be expensive. It is best to rent a car if you want to travel outside the area. Buses are also available. If you book a trip they will come and pick you up. Taxis charge a lot from the airport to this area because it is considered upscale.
