A Great choice
Haven't heard of that one but can recommend Karon Sea, Sands. We stayed there last year and then went over to Patong and stayed at the patong Merlin - good to have a change of scenery but not a lot happening in Karon - the Karon Beach Resort is also popular..it was booked out for us but you could walk to Kata from there..the sea, sands resort is at the opposite end of the beach...

Good value for money
This hotel is set back off the main road but just across from the beach, although it was closed for most of the time while we were there due to rough seas but it didnt matter as we had a pool access room so spent a lot of time lazing in and around that.
The restaurant has a lovely breakfast but we ate our main meal just outside the hotel which was a lot cheaper.
Unique Quality: We had a pool access room which was fabulous..upgrade to that if you can - it's definitely worth it.

Nice place
A beautiful wooden structure, a pleasant and well integrated pool, and a perfect location by the sea, just across the road.
The only drawback is that we were out of season, and the sea, with the monsoon, was dangerous.

Staying at Karon Beach
Hi
Last year when in Phuket we stayed at Patong Beach. This year we are thinking about staying at Karon Beach at the South Sea Karon Resort. We didn't go to Karon Beach last time so are not sure what it is like. Any thoughts? Is it too far away from Patong Beach? Is there much to do there e.g. shopping, nightlife etc? And does anyone know of the South Sea Karon Resort?
RE: Staying at Karon Beach
Don't know the South Sea Karon but last September we stayed at Horizon Karon Beach Resort and Spa and had a FANTASTIC stay (and we're going back this March). Free shuttle into Patong. Night life in Karon is a bit slow compared to Patong but the beach is far superior and virtually deserted. One more beach south and there is a bit more night life at Kata Beach.
Our preference was Karon Beach because it is less crowded, cleaner and only a short ride to Patong.
RE: Staying at Karon Beach
Karon is anout 10 minutes by tuk-tuk to Patong and costs about 200 THB each way, although that price may go up. There are are a number of bars and restatuants at the north and south ends of the beach, but nothing like Patong. The beach is much quieter.
