Pool Villa - Where to stay?

by Tammy0927

My husband and I will be in Phuket for seven days starting at the end of November. We would prefer to get rid of some of our tan lines, but do it privately. I'm looking for somewhere to stay that offers a private pool. I found Sri Panwa, but there's no way I'm paying $1000+ a night. Phuket Pavillions is about $600/night. Are there any other options that are cheaper? Where could we stay that offers us the privacy we are looking for?

Really private villas within hotels are all 1000+ USD , e.g. Trisara.

The rest are not private all.

There are could be some option with private pools in backyard, but then you'll be cinfined to that narrow space - check with The Racha, it's the island 20min by speedboat from Phuket, may be they have cheaper rate for Deluxe villas with pool.

Malisa in Kata has private pools and a distinct emphasis on privacy.

Travel Tips for Phuket

Phuket Tip

by alisonr

One of the many things that was different from home, is the way the photo labs give you your photos back. Here in Australia the shops put the photos all intogether in a little wallet, but in Bangkok, we got the photos back in a little book, like a small photo album! It was so cool!!

Learn diving

by Myndo

Phuket is an ideal place to learn diving.
One of the many dive schools will also have a course in your language...

There are also many interesting dive sites around - even the one close to Patong Beach (Paradise bay) was a surprise, so good was it.

First you have one or two days in the pool - getting to know the equipment and emergency procedures - and learning the basics.

Then you will have several trips out in the sea.
I enjoyed this a lot ( a second time, I already had my licence, but my buddy had't). Diving Equipment is available at the many dive shools in Patong or at other beaches.

We have tried scuba cat in Patong. They were great.

beads/casual jewelry in Phuket

by Oz-shopper

I spent many hours wandering around Patong looking for a bead shop. The beach road has many stalls selling casual jewelry made from beads but not much variety of design and everything has to be bartered for. Eventually found a really nice bead shop (maybe the only one) in the new Patong OTOP shopping paradise. The shop was near the rear of this huge shopping market next to a bar called Booty Bar. The young lady in the bead shop spoke good english and was very knowledgable and helpful but it was the range of beads and great prices that kept me coming back. Many beautiful bead styles i hadnt seen before. All prices were marked which made it quite relaxing. You could also have things made to order using your choice of beads and design. I tried a few times to buy things on the beach road for better prices than i'd seen in the bead shop but couldnt get near it.
For anyone in to beads this shop is a must!
All in all the OTOP shopping paradise is clean, doesnt smell and was good value with way less pressure, better prices and greater variety.

Tsunami Did Little Affect To Business

by yeikloen about Thanon Bangla

This street has always been the centre of attraction in Patong and maybe in whole of Phuket and one could compare it to Patpong in Bangkok. When Tsunami strike, thought it would have taken all the pub away but its not true and they are back in full action even those with their outlet swap away, they are still operating under the stars...!!!! What ever you please

Getting to your accommodation from the Airport

by icyjo24

There are minibuses that go to the main tourist areas around Phuket. They will leave when the bus is almost full. The cost to get to the Karon Beach area from the airport is 180 baht. Usually, they will be able to drop you directly at your accommodation so make sure you have the address, especially if you are staying in the smaller guesthouses.
