Surin Beach Resort

not much of a beach at Surin Beach Hotel

my family just returned from Phuket (9/3/06) with 3-nights of stay at the Surin Beach Resort, and I feel compelled to expose the truth about Surin Beach (and the resort). If you are looking for a nice beach in Phuket, stay away from Surin beach because there is not much of a beach there. An ariel picture in another hotels reveals that Surin Beach is the smallest beach of all the beaches in Phuket. And if you're looking for a hotel next to or near a beach, stay away from any hotels in Surin vicinity all together.

Surin Beach Resort, Twinpalm, Treetop, Menathai are all highly ranked resorts in the Surin beach, but they all share the little Surin beach that's 15min walking distance from Surin Beach Resort, very dissapointing. The nearby restaurants are few, and they are even more expensive than the hotel restaurants with equally bland tasting food.

Another thing to watch out about Surin Beach Resort is that one of its three room buildings is next to a pig pen! it really stinks! thanks to the monsoon in the first two days we stayed there, which helped to wash away the stench in the air a bit. I can't imagine how bad it could smell during a hot sunny day.

a quick recap about the hotel:

Good: excellent water slides, friendly staff, decent breakfast buffet, room is nice and clean, room rate is fair.

Bad: pig pen, no beach, few and expensive restaurants around it, 20min and 300baht away from Patong Beach

i would not stay in any hotel in the Surin beach again. My advise is to stay in Karon or Kata instead. I wish someone have had posted these facts about Surin before my trip.
