Sheer Luxury

We did not stay here. It is for the rich and famous. Prince William and Kate spent some time here. VERY expensive.

We did visit on many occasions.
We would arrive on our scooter with our own hotel towels and make our way through the hotel and through the pool deck onto the private beach. Very friendly staff, we were never questioned. We used the pool facilities, sunset bar and sunset cafe.

A beautiful white tranquil beach. The cottages are sheltered under a canopy of coconut groves. They not only have cottages, but you can choose to stay in the main block of the hotel.
It has 89 one-bedroom and 19 two-bedroom cottages equipped with private verandahs, secluded sun-decks, hand-crafted teak floors and spacious bedroom chambers leading to private dressing areas.

The Chedi Phuket also provides spa services, dining venues, meeting facilities and recreational facilities.

Wonderful watersport facilities on the beach.
2 Tennis courts
Golf Course within 30 minute drive.

High Season rates; One bedroom Deluxe Cottage; THB 26 000 per room per night
Peak Season; One bedroom deluxe cottage; THB 36 000 per room per night

Nice Resort

We stayed at Chedi Resort for five nights at the hillside cottage deluxe room. We had a good view of the ocean. In general we were happy with Chedi. The buffet breakfast was excellent with many to choose ranging from Asian types of cuisines to hot sausages and bacon breakfast to boil egg. They also serve fruits and different type of cereals. You can also order omelettes with fillings to your specification. Coffee and hot chocolates were also served. You can eat as much as you want.

The Lomtalay restaurant on the upper floor serves traditional Thai cuisines. The price is dearer compare to restaurants outside the resort. The beach restaurant is open for lunch and dinner. We had pasta for lunch and the price is reasonable. They serves fresh live seafood, pasta and gourmet sandwiches.

To get to our rooms and many others you have to climb loads of steps. If you are old and fragile don’t stay here. We also find many of the rooms are out dated but very clean and comfortable.

In Chedi the beach is fantastic and deserted i.e mainly people from the resort swim and sunbake there. It has beautiful white sand and water. On the beach you can have a massage from the local at a cheap price.

They are tennis court, swimming pool and spa, boat house for waters ports also provide clean towels, library, gift shops, antique shops, massages, money changing, internet, boutique and others. Daily shuttle bus service to Patong Beach and Phuket Town are available for free at certain time only.

The location is isolated. To the nearest action Patong Beach is about 15-20 minutes by taxi. Surin Beach is a walking distance from Chedi which they are many beachside restaurants.

Great beach and romantic bungalows

The Chedi is one of the premier resorts in Phuket. The resort consists of individual thatched-roofed bungalows scattered on a forested hillside overlooking the pristine Surin beach and Andaman Sea below. My wife and I opted to upgrade to a luxurious and spacious 2 room bungalow right on the edge of the beach at the far corner of the resort. Both private and romantic, we were lulled to sleep at night by the sound of the waves crashing outside. Of course all this luxury comes at a price, but since we went in the off-season it was a relative bargain. Be warned, their peak-season rates are astronomical and arguably not worth it!

Unique Quality: The beach is superb! The pool is decent and the breakfast buffet is good. The famed Amanpuri resort is just next door, and you can hop over there for a romantic dinner at their superb Thai restaurant.

Best BeachFront Chalet

Located north of Patong Beach area (15min away), Chedi offers individual chalet/hut type accomodation from the beach front ones to those at the hillside. Very private and secluded with a nice stretch of clean sandy white beach and strong waves crashing endlessly on it. All chalets come with their own yard for your private sunbath if the beach is too far of a walk.

Unique Quality: West facing....magnificent view of the sunset everyday.

Romantic villas

The Chedi is a beautiful hotel right on, one of the nicest beaches in phuket-Surin Beach. When you are here-you will forget that most of Phuket is horribly built up. We had a deluxe room, but were able to haggle for a beach front bungalow-for an extra $50 per night (this was during their low season april-october). The room was beautiful. Very comfortable and the second bedroom was nice to relax in. The food was so so. The Thai food wasn't very good-quite bland. I wish there were more choices on their menu. Breakfast buffet was quite nice. One nice thing about this hotel is that it is located right next to the exculsive Amanpuri hotel-you are welcome to use their restaurants, except their staff will keep reminding you that you are from the Chedi. The Chedi has a golf cart to take you to and from the Amanpuri. The Amanpuri has a great Thai restaurant (also have an Italian one)and well worth the visit. In the evening you will hear wonderful noises coming from the lily pond by the reception-you won't believe that frogs can make so much noise.

The only issue about this place is that it's hard to get a taxi from the hotel. The staff want you to arrange transport with them for around 800tbt, which is ridiculous-since if you use a metered cab from the airport to the hotel it should cost 300tbt. They won't call any of the taxi companies for you-so you are stuck with them if you have an early morning flight. During the day you can walk down to the main street and get a cab or songtaew to take you were you want to go.

The Chedi made all the difference

by ccwyin

For a truly memorable experience in sometimes over-crowded Phuket, stay at THE CHEDI. I cannot rave enough about it. Most beautiful resort with individual chalets & private sundeck. Gorgeous waves. Very transquil & romantic. gd svc.

Its about 20mins by Tuk-tuk (a fun ride in itself) to Patong Beach (main shopping area & nightlife, very touristy). Close enough to the fun, far from the chaos and crowd.

Approx USD100-150.

Nakhon Pathom, difficult to find something

by chrisvandenbroucke about Mitpaisal

Not many concurrents in Nkhon so you have to be satisfied with what you find
Strategicaly located: in sight of the big Chedi
Unfriendly owner but his wife make things good in the kitchen
Big, spacious on the 5th floor. Private bathrooms, towels, sopa, TV, fan. Small terrace
Not cheap at 550 baht for the two rooms

The Chedi - Phuket

by gregorykiwi

I have planning a two week stay at the Chedi in July 2005 and I have a number of questions which hopefully someone can answer. They have hillside cottages, superior rooms and deluxe, what would you recommend. We are looking for a cottage that does not necessarily have to be on the beach, but at least have some sea views. Is there a major difference between the cottages? Also were any of the cottages and facilities damaged and how are they now? I have done some research but would like an objective opinion about the resort. I understand the beach is still beautiful, can this be confirmed. We paln to maybe go to town, how long would that take. Thankyou...all comments and recommendations would be kindly appreciated
Greg

Thanks, maybe I should consider somewhere closer to Patong beach. Do you have any recommendations. Something of a similar standard with beach access as well.
Not to keen on spending all the time in the hotel and long taxi rides to get around.
Thanks

did you get a reply to your post about The Chedi?
Our favorite hotel, The Banthai, is closed so we are considering of places and beaches. The Chedi is at the top of our list. second on our list is The Dusit. We have stayed in Patong twice and are looking more for relaxation than nightlife.
