Stayed for 2 weeks in Jan 05, just after the Tsunami. As you can imagine it was very, very quiet. The Front Village is a lovely hotel designed along fairly classical sino-portugese lines with a huge foyer (no walls - just a roof). All the rooms face out onto the swimming pool which winds and meanders across virtually the whole of the hotels frontage intermingling with the lush tropical gardens. The rooms, which are simply but elegantly furnashed were in excellant decorative order and kept immaculately clean. The air-con worked well as did everything else. Linen and towel exchange was exemplary. The hotel staff were wonderful always smiling, laughing and joking but above all else, always most helpful. The whole area was very secure and we felt safe the whole time we were there. Any downsides.........well the hotel is beside the main road into Karon which gives a bit of traffic noise although not enough to disturb our sleep, and it's about 250 metres to the beach and 750 into Karon town. We did not object to the distance because we had a jeep (plenty of parking by the hotel) but it could be a problem to those who are less mobile. I would go back to the Front Village and have no hesitation in recommending it.
