Hi Guys,

i am looking at alternative methods of travel going from phuket to samui then back. we will be there in november and december. i was there ten years ago and remember we got a bus and boat from samui to phuket however i cant remember how much it cost or how long it took. so my questions are,

1. how long does the bus/boat take from phuket to samui

2. how much will this cost?

3. is there a company webpage i can look at to see timetables and possibly book at before i arrive?

many thanks for your help,

there is a direct service boat+bus Krabi<->Samui but it must be one also to Phuket. Anyway the direct bus connections to Samui via Surat Thani, pier in Donsak, it should cost about 5-600 baht bus+ferry, between Krabi and Phuket about 150 baht
I do not know how long, by plane (bangkok airway) it's 1 hour.

you can buy the ticket once there, november is not a busy season, actually it's low season in Samui.

Yes you can still do the bus and ferry. Bus might be about 4 or 5 hours, and the ferry another hour or two (plus maybe an hour or two wait). There are also direct flights between the two. The cost for the bus might be around 200 Baht, maybe more. The ferry, similar I'd guess, can't remember exactly!

There are a lot of travel agencies in Phuket, email a few of them and ask for details! I recommend South Services (Phuket town), I've been using them for years for flights etc. and they are very professional.

Travel Tips for Phuket

Floating Muslim Village

by zrim

The sightseeing cruise included a short stop at a floating muslim village in the very northern part of the Andaman Sea (Ao Phang-Nga National Park.).

The platforms seen in this photo are used to dry and ferment little anchovies and/or shrimp. The smell is outrageous.

Adjustable/very comfortable shoes

by Tina-Perth

My latest arrival here has just reminded me that the humidity causes a lot of fluid retention in my feet and legs until my body adjusts after a few weeks.

Ensure you bring shoes with an adjustable strap or ones that are very comfortable with some extra room in them if you are likely to be affected by it as shoes get so tight and uncomfortable otherwise.

The sheltered islands

by keeweechic

Around the islands you will find some good sheltered waters all year round. From Phuket you can take tours for half a day for diving the coral reefs which are really popular. Spear fishing is not necessarily encouraged though. There are also full day trips to the southern and eastern parts of Phuket to islands such as the Phi Phi islands, Ko Dok Mai and Ko Racha.

Tailors (Rich Mond Fashions)

by Cathy&Gary

My niece Melanie recently had her Year 12 Formal dress made in Phuket so off we go for a family outing prepared to spend many hours at various tailors.

Much to our surprise we ended up using the very first one we went to - Rich Mond Fashion.

The shop had a photo of a Roberto Cavelli dress that was worn recently in a Victoria Secret’s show; this was the dress Mel had made in satin, silk and chiffon.

After 2 fittings the dress was perfect and the total cost was 4,200baht (at the time $140). This was their asking price and as everyone was so happy with that there was no bartering.

Rich Mond Fashion are very professional, speak great English and did not pressure us at all, we will definitely be paying them a visit when we go back to Phuket. They are on Rat-u-Thit Rd opposite the Patong Bay Shore Hotel.

From Phuket Airport to Patong Beach

by kenningst

The cheapest way to travel from Phuket Airport to Patong Beach is by local van/bus. When you exit the Phuket airport at the main entrance, take a left turn and look for this sign. As you approach this sign, you will be approached by locals offering you a ride to Patong beach or other destinations in phuket for a flat rate of 150BHT. Taxis will charge you a rate of 1200 to 1500 BHT to the same destination. I think you can work out the math from here.
