by trecle

Hi
Me and my wife are going to phuket end of Feb staying there for about 7 days and looking for any ideas where to go and stay for another 5 days to chill out looking for somewhere beach with a little bit of life not to crazy with a nice laid back atmosphere thank you in advance.

You might like Khao Lak, on the mainland to the north of Phuket. It's a good choice for those routed in and out of Phuket airport since the transfers are manageable both ways (airport to tourist towns on Phuket, and then Khao Lak to airport). It's laid back and lovely up there.

You can try Koh Yao Noi 1 hour boatride away from Phuket.Nice chillout island with little nightlife.Nice for mountainbiking.Koh Muuk in Trang province is another nice place to relax.

An absolutely fantastic hotel with wonderfully helpful staff. A beautiful place to stay in calm and peaceful surroundings. Great value for money. Are you doubtful which hotel I mean? I stayed at woraburi phuket resort & spa, located karon beach where is not busy like patong. At evening, you can chill out at nice bars and restaurants around there. Moreover you can check facilities hotel at http://www.woraburiphukethotel.com/

Travel Tips for Phuket

Loy Kratong

by STRATOS79

Every november in phuket celebrates Loy Kratong.
Loy means to float and Kratong a cup that is send to the sea
Little boats made by banana trees decorated with
flowers and candles are pushed in the sea
great to see in the night, people believe that the boats
carry all the bad luck away from them

Golf Phuket

by Sammyfloyd

Phuket has some wonderful golf courses and has some of the best value as well. My top reommendation is Loch Palm Golf Club (between Phuket Town and Patong). Course is interesting with water and terrain and the conditions are excellent, and you can ride the golf cart right to the ball which is important in the heat. Green fees with caddy and cart are around US$80. It's definitely worth the money if you like golf.

Laguna Phuket Golf Club in the Laguna area is a resort course that is very easy. Good practice course. Green fee around the same as Loch Palm. Advance golfers would probably find it boring.

Blue Canyon Country Club (near airport)--Canyon course is world famous and is justifiably so with its fantastic layout in the hills. It is also very difficult. However, it is also very expensive at US$150 green fee and caddy (walking only). The Lakes course, at half the price, is being renovated until November 2006. Golf clubs, shoes, plenty of balls and sunscreen.

Market Shopping

by SmilingTraveller

You can buy almost everything and anything from the many markets stalls in and around Patong.

Best time to shop is at night. There is more on offer and the night air is much more comfortable for enjoying your shopping experience. Clothes, shoes, handbags, sporting goods, DVDs, CDs, local arts and crafts, jewelry, games - the list goes on. Get ready to play the game and go with the flow. The locals can usually tell what country you are from as well as knowing how long you've spent there before you even speak , so the starting price starts from there. You will usually be offered a better price if you are buying several items together.

Patong Beach Strip

by kimkimma about Clubs, bars, go go

Phuket is so much fun. I stayed in the Patong Beach area where there is so much to do, shop and people watch. This is a very touristy area where you can meet tons of fun travelers to hang out with. At night, the place turns into an asian Las Vegas Strip where there are a lot of dancing clubs and bars all next door to each other. Definitely recommend if you love to be an international partier!!

There are many flights to Phuket from Bangkok , many airlines (also several low-cost airlines)! I flow by Thai airways, took about an hour. The Phuket International Airport located far from town about 30 km and also far from famous beaches, must ride a car through Thep Kasatri road, from the airport to the town.
