The Ak Altyn Hotel is situated in a more residential part of Ashgabat, with several embassies located within the offices in the building (e.g. German, British embassies). So it's probably one of the safer hotels in town should there be any emergency. This hotel facilities and interior wise is probably the third or fourth best hotel in town.
Unique Quality: Wifi is available courtesy of the Public Affairs Department of the US Embassy on Level 4! VERY UNIQUE IN THE CITY so take note if you must have internet access. Very popular karaoke lounge and cafe/bar with outdoor seating around a fountain and dancefloor inside. Souvenir shop selling very Turkmen handicrafts (carpets, scarves, pumpkin dolls, bags etc.)
