Samarkand has limited number of good B&B or budget places (in comparison to Bukhara). Antica's owner is nice, prices are OK, breakfasts are wealthy, a very good location and beautiful garden are main pros of this place.
Beautiful prices
We were travelling in October and were sure that there will be no problem with hotels. What a mistake we made! Wherever we stayed, we experienced that earlier booking is essential. It is due to organised trips - they book then all the rooms and there is a problem if you need to stay for a few days.
This hotel is incredible! Located a few minutes walking distance from the Lyabi Hauz in a beatiful 19th century house of rich man from Bukhara.
Very beautiful wooden carved door and a magnificent courtyard.

There's a lady hanging around The Pool offering backpackers homestays. She took us to a nice centrally located house, where we were offered a huge room, no beds, but matrasses on the floor. $4 per person with registration.
A good place to meet other travellers (especially bikers), lovely garden, nice rooms. $8-9 incl. breakfast.
Good home made dinners for $1.
At the end of my trip to Uzbekistan, I can safely say that Hotel Dedeman is probably the best in terms of quality in amenities and probably food. The rooms are comfortable, and standards are as high as you would get at any 4-star hotels in the West.
Litle touches like hairdryers, clean carpeting, comfortable mattresses and pillows, good air-conditioning, free highspeed Internet connection in the rooms, which we tend to take for granted are all available here. It also had the best breakfast buffet of all the accomodations I stayed in on my trip. It has different assortment of really good breads, cheese, meats, eggs cooked the way you want it, yoghurt, fruits and nuts. Even a small corner for "dieters".
Friendly staff , and a convenient exchange office on its premises. There is also a fitness and indoor pool as well.

Taskent friendliest Hotel is „Ali Tour“. Directly after our arrival Ali gave us to drink and to eat. After our check-in we get more to eat an drink with the result that I had problems to get up the stairs and Ali couldn’t remember the next day that two tourist arrived. But that wasn’t a problem – the next evening we were invited again. We came as strangers and soon we felt like part of the family. Ali and also his stuff are very heartfelt!
This is just a very nice place run by a very nice family. Rustam is Zukhra's husband, he's a bit shy but his wife on the contrary is very happy and full of energy. They will be very nice to you.
Breakfast is included on the price. Usualy the price is for $15 us but you should ask if she can lower the price. If you're lucky you can have it for $10.
Rooms are big with TV private Bathroom, very clean, Air conditioner and heater for the winter.
