Travel Tips for Samarkand

Heaven on Earth

by T-Moor

I love these ancient monuments, these narrow streets, people of Samarkand.

It seems that time has stopped in Samarkand, especially when you enter these ancient and gorgeous monuments. Every time I vist Samarkand I feel that I have entered different world, because in comparison with Tashkent it is a very different city.

2 500 years of history

If you decide to go to Central Asia, be sure to check out Samarkand. It's boasts probably the most beautiful square in the East - Registan, with three magnificent madrassahs, as well as the tombs of Timur and other rulers of this land. There is not so much to see, so one day is enough, but still try to see it in the evening - you will be stunned by the sights of the old buildings all lit up. Another thing that impressed me even more - the hill with all the mausaleums from eleventh century onwards that are now being restored and look very impressive.

"Samarkand BLUE"

The place where I had appeared in the textbook of my junior high school days English. And it is the place which thought would see by this eye when it is. REGISTAN SQUARE.

"Shakhi-Zinda in Samarkand"

It is a cemetery on the hill of Afrosiab.

Cemetery of people connected with Timour is located in a line in a straight line, and a pilgrim does not still die out.

The building is covered with the tile of beautiful cobalt blue. Peculiar relief is given, and green, dark blue, etc. are used other than cobalt blue, and the tile of Samarkand is impressive particularly.

If it visits 3 times here, it will be said once that it says to a Mecca.

"Samarkand where blue matches well too"

The world's largest Islamic mosque built by the Timur era. The queen is said to have built in response to Timur's triumphal return.
