Not the most glamorous place in town but has a hell of a character. Small mini hotel with bar and restaurant downstairs, right in the centre of town, rooms from US15. Best burgers and american food downstairs, and watch out for Lannie, the owner, she's a bit of a character. They also have another hotel on the golf course in Phan Thiet
Cheap, cheerfull, cold beer, cleen rooms and great food. Leave a Comment Theme: HotelPrice: less than US$20 » Currency ConverterComparison: less expensive than averageAddress: 20 Bis Thi Sach, District 1, Ho Chi Minh CityOther Contact: mogambo@saigonnet.vn

 | | | | Hotel Equatorial!!!! Amazing!... | Tip Rating: | | | | |
Hotel Equatorial!!!! Amazing! Very beautiful hotel, excellent service. It isn't a tourist hotel, really, as it felt more reserved for the Asian businessmen and businesswomen. It is in a crowded, noisy section of town that really adds something to the whole experience. HCMC is somewhat breathtaking by itself, just the sheer numbers of people. And when you walk out the doors (which are opened for you) it hits you. It is great, I tell you! This is a wonderful hotel, whose breakfast buffet is extraordinary. Their miso soup... ahhhhh! Both traditional Vietnamese and western breakfasts collide here, and what a spread!!!! Highly, highly, HIGHLY recommended. We stayed on the tenth floor (treated like royalty, even though I looked like a hippie!) They had free bar, free food, like an Apres Ski!!! It was great. We sat and talked at night there, eating food, drinking drinks... with a great view of the sun setting over the expanse of city! AH! WONDERFUL!!!! | | | | Majestic Hotel: Charming French Architeture Hotel | Tip Rating: | | | | |
We stayed here as part of a packaged tour. However, it should be quite a deal for most as the dong (Vietnamese currency) is very weak. Especially in the off-season, you may even be able to negotiate a price. The staff was extra friendly, always willing to help us with big smiles. They love to practice their English on you too so spare 15 minutes and chat with them. You can learn a lot about the people when you talk to them. This is the best reward of traveling. The elevators are real old school, they are so small but charming that it only fits 2 people with maybe a small luggage. One thing to look out for are these gecko lizards all over the ceilings, in your room, on the rooftop bar, everywhere. Some may find that cute but if you have a fear of lizards, you may want to keep this in mind.

 | | | | Metropole hotel, Saigon.: Metropole hotel, Saigon. | Tip Rating: | | | | |
Our room with air con, balcony, tv and phone costed 33 USD. On the pic is a nightview from our balcony.
Most inexpensive hotel in Saigon that has a swimming pool and buffet breakfast with excellent location. Unfortunately the pool was under construction when we were there. When we complained for that(hey, the reason we choose that hotel was mostly the pool!!), suddenly the stuff couldnt speak english..."wat, sir, i dont understand, yes, yes, oki". We didnt bother to ask for manager, but we never got back there again. But, there are a HUGE brakfast table that contains almost everything; noodles, salada, omelettes, fresh fruits, soups, desserts,...you name it, they got it! And, the room was very clean, even little bit torn cause it is so old. So, i still think its good value(and maybe the pool is now opened...). | | | | Amara Saigon: Amara Saigon - Home away from home Compare Rates NEW! | Tip Rating: Satisfaction: | | | | |
Service was excellent, but perhaps because we were guests. Our local friends were not treated the same. There seems to be less respect for them when they came to hang out with us at the hotel. Over the 3 days we stayed there, there were small hitches, like our room door could not open on the first day, or there was a power trip which caused a blackout in our room. But all these were dealt swiftly and in a friendly manner, so we weren't really bothered. I might stay there again if I feel like having a 4* accommodation, although with my kind of travel style, I don't mind staying at a hostel or so. Amara does have its perks, eg no worries about getting ripped off by a taxi, since the valet will help you. The buffet breakfast was varied slightly every day, so that we never had to eat the same stuff everyday. Since Amara is owned by a Singapore company, SG influences can be seen in the food (nasi lemak, beehoon, soup noodles etc) and in the architecture (There's a mini merlion and posters of SG in the cafe and a larger merlion at the swimming pool). We paid around SGD100 for a night in a deluxe double room. The difference between deluxe and superior is the separation of the shower and bath, and additional small perks like bedroom slippers.
Go to the korean restaurant opp the hotel - nice food. There's a whole range of shops in the vicinity, so walk along the streets and explore. It's in the District 3 zone, so it may take you around 50,000D (including tips, or else the actual taxi fare cost about 35,000D) to get to the city centre in Dist 1 during heavy traffic. Amara is closer to the airport, so a trip from the airport to the hotel should cost only USD4 (buy the taxi voucher from the taxi desk beside the entrance door inside the airport). It takes about 10-15mins in off peak traffic from the hotel to the airport, and costs us 50,000D (including tips, actual taxi fare is around 32,000D). The Area around the hotel is very near to the "China Town", Cholon. There's not much a tourist would like to see, but if you want to experience the Real Life in HCMC, then this is a good place to be located.
Excellent Breakfast. Continental, several Asian - Chinese, Vietnamese, Japanese...Daily changing selections. Spacious Rooms.
