The Chancery Saigon Hotel is located opposite the Tao Dan Park and within walking distance to some of the sights in Ho Chi Minh City; for example the Reunification Palace, the Note Dame Cathedral and the War Remnants Museum.
We (my friend and I) had a large two-room suite with sitting-room, bathroom and bedroom – and everything was nice and clean. The room was equipped with the things you expect from a hotel in this price-range: Air-conditioning, safety-box, mini-bar, free Wi-Fi internet and a colour TV with a few satellite channels. I didn’t bring my own laptop, but there were two computers free for use in the reception area.
The breakfast restaurant was located on the top (seventh?) floor and had a really nice view over the Tao Dan Park. The breakfast buffet was OK with both Asian and Continental dishes. On the ground floor was a restaurant, a bar and a café – however, the restaurant and bar was two out of three evenings booked for weddings and wasn’t open for regular hotel guests until around 10.30pm. We had dinner one evening at the restaurant and it was really good – but quite expensive.
We had a nice stay, no problems…

Spent 24 nights at the Chancery. After 1 week, just felt like at home .
Excellent price/value ratio. Not the best Hotel in Saigon but very spacious (even for Western standards)
Warmth and helpfulness of the staff was very much appreciated.
Within short walking distance from the centre (Ben Thanh market)
Would certainly recommend the Chancery.
Unique Quality: Outstanding is the human touch, if not just staying for one night. The staff is very helpful and friendly.

Rooms have a sitting room and a bedroom. Free internet, cable TV. It also has a gym, although I didn’t check it out. Hotel staff is friendly and helpful, and the rooms are comfortable.
The hotel is in a good location—walking distance to numerous attractions if you are a good walker; a $2-3 taxi ride otherwise.
It's a 3 star hotel but definitely a 5 star service! The people are really friendly and helpful. I know i've been using 'friendly and helpful' for probably a thousand and one times but i cant help it. it's the fact that they are! We met the friendliest people like Minh and Hâu. Hâu even took us to the market and helped translate and she even bargained for us when buying stuff there. Minh recommended us the Sinh Cafe Travel for us to be able to go to the Cu Chi Tunnel.
Has anyone ever stayed at Chancery Saigon Hotel in Ho Chi Minh City?
It looks alright but often looks can be deceiving!!!! It is $49 p.n. - If it is not ok, can anyone recommend another around that price that is ok!!!

I have not stayed in Chancery Hotel. However, there are tons of hotel in Saigon (ho chi minh city), they're everywhere and you can check out the room before book it. Bui Vien street is for budget westerner, around USD 20-30/night. It's safe and clean. Have fun.
Outstanding is the human touch, if not just staying for one night. The staff is very helpful and friendly.
