i recommend this hotel for all budget travellers.
may it be for business or for pleasure
it gives you not only the facilities for business but also the convenience for tourists.
its a 7-storey hotel with about 40 rooms. so its quite smaller compared to bigger named ones but the service they offer competes with the biggest hotel chains.
*request for rooms on higher floors, since the hotel is situated on a busy street, and also across from a school. so it tends to get a little noisy early in the morning. we were on 6th floor, and the noise didn't bothered us at all.
Unique Quality: a well-trained receptionist (english speaking) and very accommodating bellboys
who would help you with anything you need to anything you desire.
they answer questions like buying cellphone cards to where to buy drinking water.
they send you off to wherever you want to go,
talk to the driver themselves so that you wont get lost.
tell you the estimated prices for each fare
mark spots you want to check out and gives you directions with it.
maps in the lobby, internet access in the business room, hearty breakfast next door
walking distance to most tourist spots and the ben than market
and lastly just that warm, cozy, "im-at-home" feeling when you walk in
as you are greeted by the smiling locals
who are there to make your stay worth remembering.
I stayed in Empress Hotel for 5 days and four nights, got twin beds and a room somewhere on the top floor. This hotel is perfect for those who are in a budget but preffer a comforting and assuring stay in HCMC. The beds are comfortable enough, the bathroom is clean and shinny, they have a hairdryer(so handy for female travellers) and a hearty breakfast. Plus this hotel is located nicely in District1, the heart of HCMC.
Unique Quality: Service is realy nice. The people who work in the hotel really give you the information you need: taxi fare, legnth of ride, where to walk... Very impressive staff.
The hotel is quite small but has what you need. Business center with Internet (decent connection speed), a small restaurant, and an ATM just down the street. On a 'quiet' street, traffic isn't bad either. Rooms are nice and clean, fair size with wooden furniture and excellent bathrooms. Everything looks well made and maintained.
It is not super central (about 10 minutes to walk to 'backpacker alley' or Binh Thanh market), but it is in district 1 so everything is nearby. The neightborhood is ok and with plenty of moto drivers & cyclos around, and taxi rides around USD 1 to most anywhere in the city.
Coming here directly from home I thought the hotel was ok value and standard. After being on the road for a month in Vietnam (living in all types of places, from five star resorts to backpacker budget guesthouses), I came back here to catch my flight home - and I thought this hotel was one of the best deals I've had (not the listed price though, on hotels.com or the hotel website they give USD 20 off).
Unique Quality: Super friendly and helpful staff. Good value for money.
Directions: District 1
Does anyone know what this hotel is like? Or stayed there? Any info on it would much appreciated.
It's small hotel but look nice, location in the sentre of Sai Gon and has 40rooms,the price from 35USD
Stayed there a number of times a while ago, business style hotel well looked after. Liitle bit of the beaten track these days though. Other 3 star options are places such as Indochine on Hai Ba Trung
Thanks everyone - might book something more central.
