  • Excellent New $25 hotel HCM

    by

I stayed at this hotel in early March. It is very new and extremely clean. Located right down the street from the Ben Thanh market with lots of shops and restaurants adjacent. I had a standard room at $25, and there are rooms available from $20 to $45. There are about 11 floors with a very new and modern lift. The floors are very nice clean tile, there is beautiful woodwork, and the bathroom is luxurious with tub, shower, very nice vanity. AC is great, bed is great. Many good TV stations, telephone, quiet!. Cannot say enough about it. There are dozens and dozens of comparably-priced hotels in the area. I stayed in a couple of others, and this one is much much cleaner and nicer than the others. HIGHLY RECOMMEND! Breakfast Included.

Unique Quality: CLEAN and NEW, and excellent location

Directions: Very near Ben Thanh Market

Hotel in Ho Chi Minh City

by stevemt

I am comming (or planning to ) to HCMC very early June for 7 nights.

Am looking at the Palace Hotel, but as the 2 reviews here are kind of oposite in view, can anyone else let me know what they think of this hotel? I would like something central, cheap, but reasonably good if at all possible as I like to walk where possible and a non central hotel can cause problems there.

Thanks in advance for any replies

Cheers

STEVE

Theres the Grand in Dong Khoi which we have put some people in. Otherwise you could go for the smaller hotels like Indochine 40-42 Hai Ba Trung. Or the cheaper central options of Mogambos (very american with bar downstairs) 20 Bis Thi Sac

We stayed at the Grand Hotel in Ho Chi Minh - well located - excellent breakfast, service OK - and happy with these digs overall.

I highly recommend the HOANG GIA HUY hotel. Right down the street from Ben Thanh market with many restaurants, shops, salons, etc. BEST area to stay, in my opinion. A lot of local flavor! I stayed there 2 weeks ago--standard room $25 with breakfast. Very new, very very clean. Great bed, clean tile floor, luxurious bathroom, quiet, very good fire escape on back (new). Telephone, many TV stations, very nice woodwork, new and very nice lift.
Cannot say enough--there are dozens of other comparably-priced hotels (I have stayed in a few of them), and none compare to this place--look no farther!

Travel Tips for Ho Chi Minh City

Motorcycles are made in China,...

by jlvillalba

Motorcycles are made in China, Thailand or Japan. Is not possible to see american ones, do you know why??
There is not ped crossing, but it doesn´t matter, because if you cross the street, all the vehicles move and avoid you, even if you cross with your eyes closed (anyway i am not responsible of the last).

Shooting A Gun

by perseushermes

Where I come from, possessing a gun or even a bullet, would land me in jail.
To actually shoot REAL bullets using a REAL GUN esp an AK47.... its a dream come true.

its US$6 for 5 bullets. That is the minimum you have to spend. The AK47 is really loud (would have love using a M16 - they ran out of bullets that day, I wonder why)
The ear muffs (no use at all as the sound of the gun is really loud) is cool

I had a blast!

CHINATOWN

by stevemt about BINH TAY MARKET

A typical LARGE asian market (under a roof).

I found this market as good as if not better than the covered marked in the centre of HCMC. It is 2 floors and built round a open space in the centre.

Sells everything (and I mean everything) and the food is wonderful as well.

Oposite on the other side of the street is another market as well. Clothes, Bags, Shoes, kitchen ware, whatever you are looking for. Bargin, and its cheap.
