We liked the idea of staying in a rustic French Colonial hotel with a past that was in the centre of the city. Our room, #119, was poolside and extraordinarily quiet. It's location was convenient to an elevator that took us to the fifth floor for breakfast and evening cocktails where we could amuse ourselves watching pedestrians negotiate crossing the busy street below. The room was large and spotless, hardwood floors in the living area, tiled in the washroom. All expected amenities were accounted for. Staff were pleasant and courteous in every encounter we had with them and speaking simple English to them was never an issue. For these reasons, we heartily endorse this hotel.
Unique Quality: We thought the breakfast was outstanding. Staying at 4* and 5* throughout our 23 day journey through Vietnam, nothing came close to rivalling the breakfast spread at this hotel.

Hotel Majestic grows on you. The longer we stayed the more we loved it. The French-Colonial style is nice, as is the downtown location on the river, but the real appeal is in the service. The service is awesome. Other high points are the 2 roof-top bars, the pool, and the breakfast buffet. I usually skip the "free" breakfast but this one rocks (as long as you stick to the Vietnamese fare). If there is a downside, it would be the price compared to other hotel options, but you get what you pay for.

We stayed at the Majestic. It is perfectly located in the city and with in walking distance of most places you want to see. The room was large and very comfortable. There is a roof top bar that is a great place to have drink and watch the traffic on the river and streets below. Trust me, if you have not been to Vietnam before, the traffic will give you a nervous laugh from the airport to your hotel. We loved our stay and will return.
Unique Quality: A nice asian/western breakfast every morning. Great tour services. We hired a car to drive us about 3 hours north and arragned to have the car come back and pick us up 3 days later. The driver was great and on time to pick us up.

I would definitely recommend this hotel built in the beginning of 20th century when Vietnam was still a French colony. It has gone trough several reconstructions since that but the atmosphere and decor remained, and that is what it makes it so special....
Unique Quality: Great location at the Saigon river in the center of the city, nice rooms and you can really get sense of old times of French Indochina. People are smiling at you sincerely and not becasue they must and you can really feel it.

This is a beautiful colonial style hotel, with quite grand rooms. All of the furniture was made from teak, as were the floors. The hotel has a small pool, which although we did'nt go in it, looked quite inviting.
The breakfast buffet was delicious, and is served overlooking the river.
The staff at the hotel were extremely helpful, they even let us leave a suitcase in their luggage locker wheh we went to Nha Trang for 8 days, even though we were not going to be staying at the Majestic on our return to HCM.
If you are worried about noise, I would ask for a room at the back of the hotel, as the good people of Saigon get up very early.
Unique Quality: The hotel has an open roof top bar, which is great for nightcaps whilst watching the traffic and the river below.
The whole hotel has an historic feel about it, and does not feel "corporate" in any way.
This was the first hotel we stayed at in Saigon, and we will certainly return on our next visit.

I love historic hotels and this one was excellent. It is one of Saigon's oldest hotels and has lots of marble, natural woodwork, and high ceilings. The staff was very friendly and helpful
No deluxe room was available on the day we checked in so we were given a junior suite for the night. It was huge with 2 rooms and 1 and a half baths, jacuzzi tub, dining table, etc. The second night we were moved to a deluxe room in the newer section of the hotel. They did a nice job trying to match the newer section to the old but it just wasn't the same, less character. We did have a small balcony on the river side of the hotel. After a few days of traveling we returned to the Majestic. This time we were given a deluxe room in the old section of the hotel. It was very large with built in cabinets. All of rooms were on the first floor and I didn't think noise was a problem. All the windows had multiple panes of glass and even the loudest of car horns were very muffled. Nothing was loud enough to disturb us.

The location of the hotel is great. Almost on the banks of Saigon river and in walking distance to the main streets. The french colonial architecture gives a really majestic look to the building and it's pretty elegant inside. It is a nice hotel to stay in while in Saigon.
The staff is very nice and helpful, and was tolerant with every question we had.
Breakfast is a nice large buffet, and they cook you eggs as you ask.
The rooms are not all the same. Some of the rooms are facing the street and are a bit noisy. Rooms vary in size. We were 3 couples and we had one big and spacious room and 2 others, smaller.

We just returned from a trip to Vietnam and stayed 2 nights at the Majestic. It as a very nice hotel, in a great part of the city. Very good shopping and restaurants in close proximity. It is an older place and not perfect, but was very enjoyable. The breakfast buffet was quite nice, and our kids enjoyed the pool.
