In 10 days you can also have some trips to Mekong Delta with overnight stay. For things to do in HCMC, take a look at my page for things to do and restaurants to try.

I enjoyed the War Remnants Musuem and the half-day trip to Cu Chi Tunnels. If you look at the map a lot of attractions are within walking distance. You can catch a Water Puppet show too if you don't see the famous one in Hanoi.

Travel Tips for Ho Chi Minh City

CYCLO TOUR

by galy

Take a cyclo tour in the city. It gives you a whole different perspective of what does all this trafic means. The motorized vehicle drivers realy respects those cyclo drivers and give them right of way even when the trafic lights mean something else. Make sure you put a cover on your mouth and nose. It's realy different from just walking on the curbs

Tropical Fruit #2

by muddybok

This is pink guava that normally sold by Kgs. It has very high vitamins C (almost 20x of Oranges) in the single red guava.

I’m not going to introduce tropical fruits one by one. Just try your hand on strange fruits that you don’t normally see in your country. I promise that you’ll be very satisfied and tasting fruits itself will worth your trip to Vietnam.

Why 3 million people in HCMC own scooters

by bpacker

According to a local chappie I talked to, there's about 6 to 7 million people in HCMC and half of the population here owns scooters or xe oms!
He added that it was especially essential for a guy to own one because it would literally be impossible to date a gal without one! A favourite outing is usually a cruise around town on one of those oms ( appropriately termed "hug" ) and a stop at the city park ( next to New World Hotel ) .

Da Lat High Country

by muddybok

Most tourists will cover Mekong Delta when they are visiting HCMC, but Da Lat is also a great getaway especially after some burning hot sun at HCMC.

Da Lat is my 2nd stop after Saigon. This is a highland town and slowly becoming a popular holiday destination for local, especially those from Saigon. The vegetations will be slightly different here as compare to Mekong Delta & HCMC, where casuarina trees are found abundantly. The sound of wind passing through those casuarina needles is something really welcoming & you can easily feel the zephyrs kissing on your cheeks.

Tea and Coffee for souvenirs...

by Audia about Coop Mart or Tax Centre supermarket

Coop Mart is a well known supermarket chain in HCMC while Tax centre has a local supermarket on the top level. Both prices are more or less the same. There is one supermarket in Parkson shopping mall, but the price is a bit higher than those two. 1. Lotus Tea (any brand).
2. Dilmah Tea (Brandy Spice and Rum flavour).
3. Highlands Coffee.
4. Trung Nguyen Coffee.
5. Coffee container. Lotus tea is less than Dong 10,000. Dilmah tea around Dong 24,000 to 26,000. Coffee (small bag) around Dong 15,000. Coffee container around Dong 14,000.
