The dinner buffet was to DIE for! Lots of fresh oysters, lobsters, crabs, clams, and other international cuisine. Ditto for breakfast.
It's very pricey but recommendable if only for its sheer luxury.
Unique Quality: Just 2 blocks from Ben Thanh market, with a park across the street for a touch of green. They have a pool, spa, gym and a splendid dining hall with wine bottles stacked up the wall.
A very nice hotel which is near the Behn Than Market. It is also near one of the main pho restaurants, Pho 24, which was visited by Bill Clinton when he visited VIetnam as president. The rooms are nice, clean and spacious. Their buffet breakfast is fabulous with many choices from a American breakfast of eggs, ham, bacon to an Asian breakfast of Pho and porraige to a European with toast and jam.
A little pricey but well worth it.
i have been in Saigon for the past few years and have stayed at New World Hotel for at least 2 to 3 times. The rooms are standard for 5 stars hotel worldwide but the price is too pricey. There are many good hotels around with lower price and better rooms. I will recommend this hotel for business travellers whom company is paying for it and need to be in central of Saigon. If you are going there on your own for leisure, too high a price to pay
said to be among the best hotels in Ho Chi Minh City. my verdict = it lives up to its promise.
so if you are on a budget, this hotel's prices are not so friendly to the pockets.
Unique Quality: its a 5-star hotel. hahaha! plus it's walking distance to/from Ben Than Market and other shopping places.
This is a business end hotel ,which also appeals to the tourist market.
Rooms are very well equipped, and the night views of the city from the rooms at the front of the hotel were quite exciting.
Rooms were fully stocked with decent toiletries, and the turndown service included a small doll being left on our pillows ( makes a change from a mint).
Decent array of TV channels, basically everything you would expect from a high end business hotel.
Breakfast buffet was very good if somewhat expensive.
We got a good rate from Expedia on this hotel at £57.00 GBP per room per night, but this is a hughe corporate hotel, so if you are looking for something a little more authentic, then try the Majestic
Unique Quality: Nice views from the high rooms at the front of the hotel.
Nice touch of doormen giving you a card with the plate number of the taxi that they put you in in case of overcharging or complaint.
I was pretty surprised when I arrived in the New World Hotel Saigon because compared to all the surrounding buildings, it is very modern and rather posh. You would not know the difference between this hotel and other major hotels in Malaysia or Singapore.
Located next to Le Lai Park & about 10 min walk to the famous Ben Thanh market, it is no wonder that the New World Hotel Saigon is a popular choice for many visitors to HCMC. I would rather think that this hotel is more suited for either business travelers or tourists with money because the rates are pretty high (more than US$100++ per night)
Three Vietnamese musicians welcomed me at the reception area when I arrived lending a pleasant atmosphere. My room was average size with all the modern amenities and two comfortable twin beds. A welcome fruit basket filled with sweet local produce was sent to my room shortly after checking in.
Breakfast was nothing to shout about, there was a noodle station and the rest were pastries, fruits & cereal.
Unique Quality: Location, location, location plus 5-star service is what is great about the New World Hotel Saigon. With Ben Thanh market, restaurants & popular sites (e.g Municipals Hall, Reunification Hall) just minutes away on foot or taxi, it is a great choice for those who want convenience & comfort
There are also several nice shops in the same building including a local designer handbag shop (very nice) and other international brands e.g L'Occitane, Cle de Peau
Directions: About 10 min walk from Ben Thanh Market, next to Lelai Park
After much searching on the internet and reading many great tips from VTers, we decided to stay at the New World hotel in Saigon. I have stayed in many fine hotels in the world through my business travels and I find that the New World in Saigon is as good as any four stars hotels that I have been to. We got the executive floor access and it was very much worth the extra price for us. If you need 24x7 internet access and a nice place to unwind, the executive floor at the New World definitely fits the bill.
The room is a little small but the bathroom has all the amenities that you"ll need for your stay. The staff is extremely nice, helpful and they all speak SOME english. The hotel is conveniently locate in the middle of town and you will have easy access to most of the tourist spots (Ben Thanh, Bui Dien, old US embassy, Cho Lon ...)
A comfortable stay (although paid by my company) New World Hotel was not disappointing at all. It was adequately equipped . Service was excellent - to the extent that when I wanted a change of towels at 10pm, the housekeeping guy came with a smile and promptly too. Adequate number of tv channels for you to catch up with the world out there.
This is hotel is ideal for the first time traveler and the business traveler.
Unique Quality: Location: Located in the middle of the city.
For the shopper - About 800metres away from %L[http://members.virtualtourist.com/m/tp/1676d4/ Ben Thanh Market . Its also a short distance by Taxi to the Post Office or Notre Dame . Cost about US$1
For the Gambler in you- there is International gambling spot almost next to the hotel. Walking time from Hotel to this place is less than 5 mins.
For the tourist - Its an ideal location going to Chu Chi (beat the army of bicycles) and to the other districts.
Character:
Pool, Sports Club, gym a flood-lit tennis court, steam bath, sauna and massage rooms. Comforts of home. and nice friendly staff
Food:
The hotel breakfast has a good enough spread to fill you up and nice view of the park. If you want another choice of meals - you can try the Pho 2000 which is on the way to Ben Thanh Market .
Directions: Walking Distance about 10 min from Ben Thanh market
My wife and I stayed there for 5 nights. As New World Hotel is run by Marriot you can expect the usual 5 star standards one comes to expect of Marriot. NWH went an extra mile to cater to families with young kids by providing a children's playground, kids' playroom and a decent pool.
Unique Quality: The breakfast buffet was not among the best of Marriots' hotels in Asia but the lunch buffet at its Cups and Spoons boasts of an excellent selection and quality. Be prepared to pay about US$ 20 or more.
I booked a room on the hotel's "executive floors" (10-14). That entitled me to access to the executive lounge -- free breakfast as well as snacks and drinks throughout the day, magazines and newspapers, and interenet access. That made the extra $20 a day I paid well worth it.
The room was large and well appointed, with a queen size bed, desk, chairs, and sofa; also an in-room safe, and a large bathroom with more than the usual accessories.
Unique Quality: Large pool; three fine restaurants (Vietnamese/international, Chinese, and Japanese), plus a lobby bar serving snacks and 24-hour room service; nice shops.
Directions: A bit remote from central Saigon and the most interesting sites.
New World Hotel Saigon Ho Chi Minh City Vietnam
I am travelling to vietnam and cambodia with my wife in may - can you tell me where are the most beautiful beaches to relax? any good hotel recommendations in ho chi minh city, hanoi, halong bay and hue are appreciated - your suggestions for places to visit are very much appreciated
If you're not on a tight budget these hotels are outstanding:
HCMC: New World Hotel Saigon (modern, all amenities, good restaurants)
www.newworldvietnam.com
Visiting: day tour of the city, including the Museum of History and King Hung Vuong pagoda, GiacLam and Jade Emperor pagodas; to the CuChi tunnels and CaoDai temple at TayNinh; to the Mekong delta (also 2- and 3-day tours)
Hue: La Residence Inn (posh former governor's palace, excellent restaurant)
www.la-residence-hue.com
Visiting: city tour including the Citadel and pagodas; ThienMu pagoda (as part of city tour or on) dragon boat to the Imperial tombs
Hanoi: Sofitel Metropole Hotel (one of the best hotels in the world; Michelin quality three-star restaurant)
www.sofitel.com/sofitel/fichehotel/gb/sof/1555/pop_situation.shtml
Visiting: city tour including Temple of Literature HoChiMinh mausoleum and museum, Ethnographic Museum; day tour to ex-imperial capital HoaLu and TamCao for karsts and caves
And all that barely scratches the surface of this fascinating country.
The Saigon Morin in Hue is probably the best of the best. The prices are very reasonable for a hotel of this calibre, and the rooms and service are outstanding.
There are any number of great hotel choices in HCMC. The Seraton is very nice, but the rooms are quite cramped. Kim Do has much larger rooms for less money. The Rex is OK, but certainly not all it's made out to be.
Bob
Hands down the best beach and beach scene is in Nha Trang.
Enjoy
