I think the name now is Renaissance Riverside hotel. It a Marriott hotel and as such is rather "American". Very clean, very efficient, absolutely nothing to complain about except that it hasn't much character. The food in all of the restaurants is OK but lacking in real flavour and personality. We had much better food in a lot of restaurants around at a tenth of the price. The buffet breakfast is very varied and colourful and fresh, but again, is like any other hotel of this type in the world, even the Vietnamese food. Oh, I'm Japanese, but I do not recommend their Japanese food. They have sushi in the buffet, as well as Japanese breakfast foods, and it's invariably awful. Of course, you wouldn't go to Vietnam and eat Japanese but just in case.
Absolutely nothing to complain about, but nothing to rave about either. A nice rest after backpacking, but very boring after one day. Perfect for a business trip. The view looking down on the ferries on the river was fun for about 15 minutes, seeing all the people on motorcycles go on and off the ferries all day. There are a lot of nice restaurants around, especially one that is right next to it, around the corner (see restaurant tip).
