Where do Vegetarians eat in HCM city? and what should we see in 10days?

by portlanddave

Any veggies out there with a favorite spot to eat? in and around the city, we are big foodies, love to try new things, and can't wait to see what this great city has to offer. also, we love hiking/temples/city pubs etc., so if you have some favorite 'must see' things to experience, please do let us know, and thanks in advance!

Hi...
my favourite veggie-buddhist restaurant was Green Food: They had small place at Pham Ngu Lao area/district 1 and all the food is vegan; bot interesting and very nice.
Their address is 207 Bui Vien.

Was eating there every day, because I wanted to try everthing from their menu (but I couldn't, haha).

Hope that helps,
vesna

Recently there is a restaurant opened inside one of the biggest pagodas in HCMC. I don't remember the address but I know the pagoda's name "Vinh NGhiem" and it is on Nguyen Van Troi St. Phu Nhuan dist. You probably won't walk there from downtown as it will take a good one hour, unless you're a walker.take a taxi or 'xe om'as they'll know exactly where the pagoda is. I recommend to schedule your visit in the morning and having lunch right after that....because the pagoda is more quiet in the morning so you can enjoy the atmosphere better. unless there is a funeral going on then it's gonna be quiet. for some reason vietnamese love to have funerals held at this pagoda!

Travel Tips for Ho Chi Minh City

by mejones1

A unique place to visit for an American, but highly impoverished and lacking in basic infrastructure. Be mindful of your possessions and people watching you. Make certain you hire a tour guide for at least a day or two. Worth the trip for the novelty of being able to say you've been there.

Massage and Food

by Unknownsu

I’ve had many debates with other tourists as to what and who are the persons on bikes making rattling sounds and what it is they are advertising. It turns out they are masseuses, in a way. They offer various types of massages and local remedies such as the suction cup cure shown on my ‘spiritual remedy’ tip.

Also commonly seen on the streets are young boys and less common, young girls beating a stick to a piece of metal causing quite a hypnotic tune. They are informing the public that they work for a noodle stall, usually family owned, somewhere in the vicinity. Prices are usually in the 3-5000d range. For those who wish patronize, the messenger will bring the bowl of pippin hot soup while you carry on with your daily activities.

Restaurants

I've noticed at restaurants that waiters stand and wait for you to make your decisions rather than leave you alone for a few minutes. This was a little disconcerting at first. I found it very difficult to make up my mind while someone was standing there staring at me. I've found that politely asking them to come back in a couple minutes helps.

Zoologitacal & Botanical Garden

by Xdrive

Well, if you are sick with all the motorcycle people trace at you for a ride, or the people ask you for foot massage. You can choose the garden to go. That is the most relax place I found ( except my hotel swimmming pool ) in HCM City. Entry fee is 8000 local dollar, which is about USD4. Normally, the park is quiet, and very relax to walk around. Lots of animals and green that you can see. I enjoy it very much. You need to call a taxi to go there, cost about 2500 local currency. History museum and HTV Tower is beside the park. You can spend up 2 hours here.

Ben Thanh Market

by Carino about Stores & Markets

Ben Thanh Market is a great place to shop. It's a big market hall, which can get quite hot and dusty. You will find everything from Clothes, Souveniers, Art Crafts, Food and Drinks to Flowers. Our favorite shop was Linh Loi (Shop umber 206-208) which is selling Shirts and Jeans. They have high quality polo shirts at very low prices. Bargain hard and buy in large quantities and you will get a nice discount. Bargain hard!
