Beautiful buildings
District 1 of HCMC that is actually the former Saigon is lovely. There are so many nice buildings and organised avenues. Saigon for sure is one of the nicest cities in Asia. Lovely restaurants, nice people. A place to see!

Hi, are there any TESOL teachers willing to share their experience? Husband and I are thinking about doing a TESOL course, we are keen but nervous at the same time.
I completed my TESOL in Beijing about 3 years ago - what do you want to know? I have only taught in China and go back each year to teach.
Don't be nervous - it's fun tho I did find it hard work!!
Feel free to Email for any detailed info
The course we are looking at is all done online, this is great for me as I work full time. Not being a teacher I guess it makes us nervous as to how we will go when we are standing in front of a class after only doing the work/course on the computer. We wanted to teach in Vietnam but notice that huge amounts of people go to China.

Getting from one place to another is not as smooth sailing. You will need to leave early and give yourself enough time to get to your destination, especially if you're catching your flight or making your way to the tour agency for a day trip.
Even the buses, on a clear stretch of road, seemed to travel about 40-60 km/h.
So stay calm, and let not the traffic fluster you.
The cyclo somehow still survives among the forest of small motorbikes. All it is is a bicycle with a passenger seat attached to the front. I like to imagine that this is a father taking his family for a ride ... They do warn you about protecting your belonging when you ride in one -- but your money etc... shouldn't be in your purse anyway.
The Cao Dai Temple experience is a bit touristy but at the same time its a brilliant display of color in a religious ceremony that little is known about. Also it was strange to see many temples that had swastikas on them. Someone told me that the symbol meant fertility but who knows. You will find yourself get a little upset however if you are a person who believes strongly in respecting other's cultures because you will find that the many tourists during the temple ceremony are loud and rude.
In the market, I bargained for a set of chopsticks in a nice box.
Agreeing on the price, the woman took my money, and proceeded behind the counter to wrap the Chopsticks.
At this time, another girl came up and started talking to me. I realized I had let my guard down for a second, so when I was given my parcel, I walked a short distance and opened the end to see if I had the correct chopsticks. I could see it was, so went back to my Hotel.
At the Hotel, I opened the parcel completely......
Yes, I had the right design, only they had changed it for one with a large chip out of it!
This was to be a gift for my family. If I had opened the other end, I would have found the chip, luck wasn't with me.
You cannot let your guard down. I realize the other lady was a decoy now, didn't then, just thought being friendly, not so, all part of a plan.

Q: Vanilla pods "May I know where I can buy vanilla pods in Ho Chi Minh City?"
A: "I would try Benh Tanh markets: they seem to have just about everything else there. The fresh produce section is at the back."
